Hey. No one seems to have asked about anything like this before, so here goes.
I've been out a couple of different language systems for use in a small-scale PW, and SIMTools' implementation looks good and very clean. I'm not much of a scripter, and while I've been digging through the language-related code for a few hours, I can't seem to track down a system for restricting a player's choice of languages.
Is there a way to have a PC initially choose languages from a restricted list? My plan is to have it mirror D&D's Bonus Language lists; they take a number of languages equal to their INT modifier, then they can choose languages unrestricted whenever they put ranks in their Speak Language skill. Will I be coding this function myself, or is there something I'm just missing?

There's no restriction, other than configuring subrace languages, because there's no other inbuilt mechanism for players to learn a language absent dm intervention. The test mod has a demo teacher, though, and the principle is simple enough. You can place whatever restrictions you like on how you set up your language acquisition, but that choice was specifically left to builders, because of the many ways it could be done. In essence, all that's required for them to 'learn' a simple language is to set a persistent int on the character. If you don't want to go digging through the test mod, look at the code for dm_learn - a text search of the scripts for 'learn' will find it for you.

Couldnt you just use your demo module teacher and apply it that way?
