How long is this "contest" going to last? It usually takes me a bout a week or two to level up a toon to immo, depending on real life time constraints.

Well it'll be open for a couple of months at least. Plenty of time for you to get that new character tagged through all the lowbie tags Cata

I think that one is just a rumor. There have been many discussions regarding the "rewards" of getting all the tags, other than the sheer enjoyment partying and exploring the server, and for legendary tags, being able to use some of the set gear. Correct me if i am wrong, but there is nothing tied to the tags that would give you better loot drops.

Well the quality of loot doesn't increase because u have gotten the tags, however by looting on the way and by getting the loot from the bosses when u go in range of the bosses to kill them you will find you end up with much better loot in the long run, the reason for this is simple.
When you go with a powerlevelling group they don't often stop to gather the loot on the way, they farm areas for XP and altho they don't mind you looting its usually a case of u ending up running after them to catch up if u do loot.
When u go after tags there is no major rush to get it over and done with and move onto next one so the loot in the areas where the bosses live is there for the taking. Ok the loot is lowbie stuff but some of it is good lowbie stuff. I can think of at least half a dozen bosses who drop loot that can be used on your characters to provide immunes to certain things not to mention by exploring the areas around these bosses there are loot items that can be equipped at a much earlier level than you would find in the shops.
Level 3 Fear Immune ne1? Level 9 Mind Immune? Level 9 Haste?
That is just three lowbie items I can remember off top of my head as I am levelling a lowbie right now and using those items lol. It is much easier to fight a boss when he doesn't fear, confuse you or crit u cause ya haste pot just ran out and ya ac dropped.
By explorijng these areas and looting on the way to and at the tags you are pretty much guaranteed to find soe mreally usefull items, from level 1 all the way up to 40. Mantakloss has some of the best pre UR immune gear in the game if you take the time to look for it. They don't even require a tag.
So in short, does getting the tags give you better loot drops, no, but the loot you can get by doing the tags is decent enuf to merit going for them if you need lowbie gear.

Well the area is a prelude to the Immo run, you can't expect it to be easy. However if you do go out and get every tag there is before then you are pretty much guarantedd to be around level 35-40 by the time you reach Mantakloss. Not to mention the fact that you actually have to do at least one area previous to even entring Mantakloss that drops loot that is particularly useful againt em. My latest immortal charactre was one I used to obtain every tag, there was a party of three of us, mt new Threader, my wifes Zen Ranger and a Wizard. Ok we weren't playing HC and had access to our store of UR Gear and such but we managed to trio Xul, Lolth and Immo and did rach run in a pretty decent amount of time so the areas are definitely doable, they just aren't easy and require a little care and attention when u go there.

Heys ) I think CataclysmicDeath is doing great promoting to do tags When i level my characters and i see there is new players in my group i try to drag them to tags too, even if i have Oltum and they spoiled with PL haha. And i force them to come with me, if they start saying AFK in PoW haha. I also think there should be no rewards for having all tags or almost all tags, if i go tag something i always take all the loot from the boss, and all the loot that i see when going there. When i make new characters i always use "tag loot" and combine this with shop items. I can have very solid equipment setup when i do this. Ooh! Mie rocks Bye!
