Weapons are similar to armor for shifters. The only things that transfer are the damage types on your weapon. Weapon enhancements should be transferring over; if they aren't it's a bug. Test and see. Funky I'm posting this here because I got the impression that weapon enhancements (Gmw/Monk Gloves AB bonus etc) wouldn't transfer - only the damage types would - but according to Funky they should do. Thought I'd stick a note in here to clear that up for anyone who, like me, was curious.

Bort - I just got my shifter up to lvl 40. When shifted to dragon, his AC is 104, but his equipment is not that good, so the 110 number suggested above is probably more accurate.

Draggy´s AC is one of the high in game. I have (with my shifter at level 44) AC 120 with good barkskin, +14 armor and +16 deflection....Not sure what´s the biggest possible AC, but draggy SHOULD be able to have (I haven´t tried that yet) AC 143 (153 with improved expertise). And that´s a lot!!
EDIT: This number is without any buff spell (bard song, cleric or whatever).

I was wondering if anyone saw a problem taking 13 druid lvls, 25 shifter and 2 monk. The reason I would do this is because bark skin gives 1 extra point in ac at druid lvl 13. If this hurts the dc in any form I would deffinitly not do it, but I am pretty sure it doesn't.
Let me know of any problems you might see

That change hurts the DC of several of your best forms....especially Medusa which is one of the cornerstone forms at level 60. You would lose 4 dc on your gaze making yourself impotent in many of the higher level areas you would normally rock. Off the top of my head dragon wouldn't be affected, and bask (which does not progress in DC past level 40 and is eventually replaced by medusa). Barkskin just isn't that important to you as a shifter anyway.

Heh, well as per the trend I'll post Challalah's character sheet. I'm afraid she isn't as perfect as I'd like her to be, feats, skills and a stat point or two are a bit off. For some reason I left her constitution odd, she is missing the epic fortitude feat and I didn't give her discipline. But other than one certain area (and even there it isn't that bad) it doesn't cause a problem. But she's all tagged up and been around the block a fair bit - judging from her xp The image shows unshifted, Dragon and medusa forms from left to right with maxed wis, Studs of Ricorin Dagarkin, 16 Deflection and epic mage armor active. (I could have shown more forms but the image is huge as is) The build post(s) reflect all of the feat/skill modifications from things I (and Tyran) have learned while building Challalah. My new doppelganger shifter, Tyril (lvl 26 atm) takes advantage of all of the improvements. -S

I know a char loses their expertise mode when casting/drinking/etc, but does anyone know if the expertise mode is cancelled by the dragon breath?
If so I am not sure what value expertise (especially the improved feat) provides as it will only be of use when melee, and from my experience their ab isnt the greatest.

Just a clairification.... I said barkskin is not important to a shifter, when I meant to say "your" barkskins as a shifter isn't going to make or break you. It does give a a bit a armor. What you should be doing instead of trying to upgrade your own barkskin slightly through your build is finding druids and plant clerics in your group and sponging off of them. They have a much more robust version of the spell at high levels.

I think its fine so long as you stay in one spot. Use of a shifter skill is a lot like attacking on the spot. You would have to sacrifice a lot to get your intelligence to 13 in order to get this feat. Not sure it is worth it, but if you did sacrifice to take it you might consider picking up the greater version of the feat (since your ab will too low to hit anything even with a - 5 penalty). Greater would give you 125 ish in medusa form ....136 ish in dragon etc. I know for my own playing style with frequently shifts and lots of position changes expertise would not be something I could use effectively. But if it is something you use frequently with your other builds maybe you could pull it off. Should do a quick test in the TEST area first though. I'm away from my NWN game atm....I won't get to it till tomorrow night or so

Well *I* am close to my computer and yes, expertise still functions while in dragon breath and any of the other shifter abilities I tested, however as T said if you move it is cancelled. And generally I'm moving around and repositioning all the time to get ther most out of the abilities - since most are in a cone shape. While possibly useful, it's probably not worth the annoyance of using or the stat points. But, to each his own. -S

I have two quick questions regarding item merging.
1. When you wear heavy armor or a shield you lose the monk AC bonus. When you shift with heavy gear on... do you then regain the monk ac bonus as your form is now "naked" ?
2. I know weapon specials (on hits, elemental damages, etc) will merge onto your form. This occurs with gloves or with a weapon. If you wear some gloves and wield a sword will the bonuses from both merge to your form ? Similarialy... if you dual wield some weapons will both weapons merge to your form ?

Yes you regain monk AC once you transform even if you are wearing heavy armor.
Monk glove damge bonuses only stack if you are otherwise unarmed, if you have a weapon in your hand the damage bonus from it will stack rather than from the gloves. Offhand weapons and torches do not merge, so it's pointless to dual wield as a shifter.

Question for Sabre or Tyrant . What are the pros or cons of both versions of this build. Meaning the 10 druid/29 shifter/1 monk or 9 druid/1 monk/ 29 shifter/ 1 monkTwo monk lvls will grant you deflect arrow, and one more druid lvl would give you one more lvl 5 spell...Im sure theres more than that....is it to make it easier/faster to lvl with the tumble bonus early on? Just curious. Thanks Rag'

Well taking the monk level early on not only gives you tumble AC but primarily your monk AC which is considerably higher than what shield AC can give you. Also you can use one of your non-epic feats on a weapon proficiency on your early monk level - it's impossible to take one on a druid or shifter level. 10 druid 29 shifter might be better to those with more patience since you'll get a +1 to your basilisk and dragon DCs but basilisk eventually (lvl50 usually) gets outclassed by medusa so you basically get a +1 to your dragon DC out of the deal (there might be a couple other minor DCs I'm forgetting - check the list). The bonus is nice but I'd rather have at least one spare weapon proficiency (especially if you're not doppleganger) and not be overly squishy all the way up. You could take your monk level on an epic feat level so you could take your proficiency then but then you waste an early on epic feat and lose a few points in discipline. Deflect arrows probly doesn't make that much difference but as much as a shifter tends to get hit, potentially missing out on one missle attack is a nice feature. In the end it's mostly personal preference but it's better to plan to take an early monk level when it won't hurt you much and give you some benefits (i.e. the 10 non-shifter levels you have to take) than figuring out halfway that you just need to take a monk level NOW so you can stand playing your shifter and end up with 10 druid 28 shifter 2 monk . . . -S
