OK, so you get 7 pre epic feats standard. Wiz gets a bonus every 5 levels, so that is lvl 5, 10, 15 (3 total pre epic) Then the 7 standard epic feats, plus the bonus feat from 20th wiz level, plus a bonus wiz feat at level 23, 26, 29, 32, 35, 38, for 6 feats, plus the ranger epic feat, which gives 15 feats total, allowing me to take all of the feats listed. Then 7 Legendary Feats No pandect used, as listed, everything else is as listed.

I have had a demi 2 wiz/rog sitting in "mothballs" for quite a while now, wondering what to do with it, and as i am not really a good toon builder, i do rely on others for ideas which i usually "tweak" to my play style.
I am quite liking your build- esp. w/ the para abj. for the Banish spell mainly. There are other benefits with abj. of course, but here is my question; Is para foc that necessary? Isnt LL enough? if in doubt use a focus draught? Or am i way off base. It would save a feat for somewhere else. . .

PSK gets you double epic and the mass dismissal paragon spell. I personally wouldn't spend that many feats on Abjuration. You can kill all the banishables with just 1 or 2 Abj focuses (e.g. staves, augments, and draughts) and judicious use of Energy Drain. Armor AC is good but not worth the feats if you are standing in the back. I haven't played around with the paragon spell, but from its description it seems to be severely underpowered.

I have used Para Abjuration via Polymathy on an Abo run it works map wide so it can be used like DoM is on Abo so very handy there.

You guys are missing whole point of aby mage being able to be best option for duo aboleths in record time due to greater dispel, that's the only thing for what u need psf abj

The cat is out of the bag ! After Raj generously shared another one of his tricks, I expect nothing less than an explosion in PSF Abjuration mages in the near future. Pretty much like the inflation in Chanters after he posted his "Fatty"....

Well, it has been no secret to anybody who was bothered enough to do the maths: Mass Spell Destruction is (under the right circumstances) one of the strongest epics, as far as damage goes. As long as you have competent tanks in your group, the conceal drop is huge (given that the formula how Listen drops concealment is exponential). Having 2 MSDs in a row is just thrilling. Now, let us discuss the SR drop, mord effect and the paragon spell...

all of these discussions mean nothing! anything pre-limbo is invalid.

Any advice on how to modify this build for use with the Planar Walker subrace? Genie gets 2 feats (Spell Penetration/Greater Spell Penetration) for free, so the key difference if you use Planewalker will be needing to replace those (ie: dropping 2 feats from the build). Divination is a school mostly relevant for Abyss runs - these are some of the hardest areas in the game, and haven't been getting run much recently. As you're setting up a UR race here, it's likely that by the time the toon is ready for the Abyss you would have reincarnated already, so IMO it's safe to drop Divination (note that if you HAVE to go to the Abyss, you can always use a GSF: Divination aug + a Draught --> takes you back up to ESF: Divination). The other alternative is to reduce the amount of Abjuration feats taken, however Abjuration has use in the Hells against Rakshasas/Rajas, and makes a world of difference in Aboleths. Personally, I would drop the Divination foci. This will free up three feats, two of which will be spent on Spell Penetration/Greater Spell Penetration, which leaves one feat spare. LSF: Transmutation is probably a good option for this spare feat, as Disintegrate gets used a lot in Hell. In terms of other non-BUR subrace options, note that Planewalker only gets +2 INT. As INT is the most important stat for a Wizard, you may want to consider a different subrace that provides a larger increase. In particular, Illithid (Secret) gives +5 INT, while Stargazer (UR) gives +4 INT.

I think PW makes a good wizard for starter build. The -1 DC difference isn't as noticeable or painful when considering a nondemi UR toon in the first place, and anyway for such a wizard, DC instakills will generally fall short of the mark/be very unimpressive (hence the common advice of fromscratch wizard focusing on damage/backup 2nd arcane role, as opposed to prioritizing instakills in spellbook/combat). The racial abilities are quite useless fluff for "grownup" player/toon, but should be nice to have (especially on scratch wizard, where losing ringslot for survival is very painful) for newbie toon/player. Finally, the +2 Dex/Con stats is icing on the cake. Stargazer is nice but the forced divination makes it yet another caster subrace that's only optimal if you want the school offered , and divination is really bad (the worst even) to invest in for any mage that doesn't spend a lot of time casting PWK on paragons. It's true that the Contingency epic is "nice to have", but it's also the single worst epic, and in my opinion it's not worth becoming acclimated to such a weak crutch (simply put mage should not need autorez, especially if it comes at expensive sacrifice of more useful school/epic). Being Elf base, gazer also is well-suited for a rogsplash lootmage (due Able Learner). Transmutation is amazing in every area of the module atm with one of the "bread and butter" arcane instakills as well as 2 different hugely powerful damage spells, and it's definitely a must-have for any wizard. As a sidenote, Disint is "required" not just for hells but also Abo and Ely (and has targets in every other LL run besides). PSF Abj is *only* for abofarmer and is a poor choice of leg/para feat for "non-abofarmer" wizard. Ignore comments of sidebenefits to high Abj rank (such as 2x MSD, better mords etc); that's all bad fluff. It is for one use and one use only (supersekret so dont ask, but until you're in a position to care about completing abo2 in as little time as possible, don't worry about it). If you can achieve LSF in Nec, Trans, Illus, and Evo, and still have epic/LL feats to spare (after extend/empower), then ESF abj is fine because it's far better than than div or ench, but increasing past epic isn't a worthwhile investment for this hypothetical wizard. MSD is really great (nowhere near as "powerful" as some have impressed, because other than asmo fight the conceal drop is rarely-if-ever noticeable or important; generally the most frequent use is as a 1shot-guarantee aoe mords that you can target without worrying party, which is awesome; for hells you can treat it as almost an extra DoM in terms of "free rak removal" so on rak-heavy layers it's awesome to have, and for other layers it's great for randoms too. In LL runs it's really great as well)

Plainwalker is a crappy race for a pure caster. With the spread out stats it might suit quasi classes quite well, but if you want to build a pure maxed out wiz go with Illithid (my favourite) or Stargazer (good choice if you want to go to the abyss). PWK is a must have there and really strong. Abjuration grants very high buff boosts and enhances your ability to dispel magic's and banish summons. Very handy not only against the aboleths but anywhere on the mod.
My advice would be to forget about trans. Yes the Reverse Gravity is a nice no brain spell, but Disintegrate is just plain useless until you are double demi and absolutely maxed out. Heck even a level 80 bur-race wiz has trouble when trying to use it on machines in hell and only spamming works. Good for a sorc, bad for a wiz.
Necro, Illu, Evo, Abj/Div and you are in business and pretty much everyplace useful. You can compensate as said before the lack of a school by using an item with gsf and a draught on it.
just my 50 cents
