Here's a Green Dragon Disciple Strength Tank build that is highly resistant to damage, but dishes out his fair share (at least for a meleer). There is an open subrace of this build as well (highergroundpoa.proboards3.com/index.cgi?board=openbuild&action=display&thread=11841)Advantages include:- Full 50 Levels of GDD stats and special abilities.
- Blackguard Charisma Save Bonuses (all Saves 61+ without taking any Save feats).
- All 4 Base Blackguard Spells (inc, weapon buff/temp crit immune)
- Acid Immunity (and 25% Fire Immunity)
- 80 Final Strength (with items, before Demi).
- 70 Spell Resistance
- 133 Total AC (137 with epic buffs, +18 AC from Skin/RDD/Tumble bonuses)
- 105 AB Fully Buffed (108 with x2 demi and str arti).
- +9d6 Sneak Attack Damage (BG +2d6, Pandect +2d6, Asmo Gloves +5d6).
- Use a Heavy Flail 1-Handed with Overwhelming/Devastating Crit (14-20x4 with keen).
The previous version used half guardinal to get Evasion, this version uses Salamander instead.
By giving up evasion we get, +25% to a resistance, +2 AC, +2 Strength, and can easily take BG instead of paladin so we get all 4 base Blackguard spells. By going Salamander we also can be human which gives us an extra pre-epic feat which we use to take Divine Might +11 divine damage for 11 rounds with 14 uses a day (+13 damage for 13 rounds with 16 uses after double demi). Its all about the resists in Hell so loosing evasion isn't that big a deal.
Started Tia right at L55, with no BUR gear and only one UR gear (helm), and have had no problems in the Hells (probably could have *started* the hells at L50, but not allowed). He's currently Demi x2. Gear selection is as follows:- Reaching for Damnation (Asmo Gauntlets)
- Carapace of Smouldering Stone (Armor)
- Wings of the Storm (Shield)
- Demise of Disipater (Weapon)
- Crown of Uncanny Stability (Helm)
- Erinyes Stole (Cloak)
- Belt of Legendary Resiliance (Belt)
- Mordenkainan's Mockery (Boots)
- Spectre's Necklace (Amulet)
- Seal of Divinity (Ring)
- Shimmer of the Styx (Ring)
I include the build description below, to print it off save it into a .txt file and drag it into IE. Set all 4 printer margins to .25" and print 2 sided landscape (will fit on 1 sheet this way). If you can't do 2-sided, no worries the build will be on 1 sheet and the GDD notes on another.
Enjoy,

Rescaled AC Bonuses: +1/3 GDD levels (max +10, which is 2 more than the old scale). Ability bonuses: They gain the following stat increases at the following GDD levels, which include legendary levels if the character's control class is GDD. The only change in the first 10 levels is that GDDs do not get +4 strength at level 10: o +2 Str (2/4/15/20/25/30/35/40/45/50) o +2 Con (7/20/30/40/50) o +2 Int (9/20/40) o +2 Cha (10/30/50) These bonuses are gained automatically on levelup - the character will be asked to relog until they take effect. Once they find it, they will have to return every 5 levels to gain the next bonus. It terrifies the character's opponents, inflicting penalties to attack, skills, and saves on them while they are in the aura. Improved Dragon Breath: The GDD's dragon breath gains unlimited uses, but may only be used every two minutes. Damage and DC increase with GDD levels, including legendary levels if the character's control class is also GDD. They are capped at certain points if the character does not have the Epic Toughness feats required. o 6d12 each acid and negative, plus 1d12 for every 2 GDD levels past 10, to a maximum of 26d12 at GDD level 50. o DC = 19, plus 7/10ths of the character's RD levels, to a maximum of 54 DC at GDD level 50. The breath is capped at level 20 unless the character has the Epic Toughness 5 feat, at level 25 unless the character has the Epic Toughness 7 feat, and level 30 unless the character has the Epic Toughness 10 feat. Wing Buffet: Does 1d12/5 GDD (max 10d12) levels to creatures in a large-sized area, forcing a reflex save or be knocked down (DC: GDD levels, max 50). It also clears away AoE effects in the area like a Gust of Wind.

This build is very similar to my RDD, including the subrace.

How did you get the extra 20% physical damage immunity from the Battle Hardened feats?
Are you sure the other 20% isn't from items? I don't think BH4 should give you 40% immunity, unless there's a bug.

Updated to remove 2 of the Con bumps, Epic DR I, and Legendary Battle Hardened x4 (the first 2 were required for the last 4). Replaced those with +6 Str and Epic Prowess for +5 AB and +3 damage. Initially I erred on the side of defense, but after tagging him to Cania it has become clear that the LBH isn't needed and that he can go more offensive. Look for another update in the near future using Blackguard and Heavy Flail for even more offense .

Hi
I'm contemplating reincarnating my WDD to this build, but I have a few questions...
I know the char sheet lies, but...
You quote all saves as 61+ and the screenie you posted has reflex at 58...is this correct? Are you in Hell when the screenie was taken maybe?
The Char Sheet shows 117 as max AB...what is it really?
I'm thinking of taking either Halberd or Scythe as weapon (as I don't have anything better than lvl35 Heavy Flail). My math is very ordinary...if I left out blind fight, and took weap prof exotic for scythe, would the left over skill points that you suggest to possibly put into lore be enough to get 60+ listen instead?
Why do you take 6 perform at lvl 20 when you take the 2nd bard level?
Think thats it for now, Thanks

You quote all saves as 61+ and the screenie you posted has reflex at 58...is this correct? Are you in Hell when the screenie was taken maybe? I was in hell at the time, my actual saves were 3 better than that. Remember becoming demi adds 2 to all saves, the text sheet at the bottom (not the screen shot) says what the saves are at L60 non-demi). I believe its +109, when fully buffed. Even given that I wouldn't take anything except heavy flail, Halberd is right out and very inferior (2 damage types so foe gets best resistance). Heavy flail gives you your best bonus damage over the long haul and has the best exotic damage types. Sure, I have BF and listen, though you really only need BF, skipped the lore since bards/mages usually bank. Keep your defensive bonuses from BF though, use heavy flail, you'll get better ones and folks will buff that one. Just for completeness to max his bard song, pitiful as it is. Use them elsewhere if you like. Ralkain

Thanks for the reply Ralkain I knew there was a reason I stopped using my Halberd, despite the crit range.... I guess I'll be keeping my eyes open for Heavy Flails

I'd be cautious about the "Two damage types gets the best resistance" statement as this is slated to change with 1.69 not going to argue about the damage types although I still like my scythe wielding RDD with x6 crits.

You state that your max buffed AB is 109.
Could I get you to confirm that? I'm making my own RDD and my own calculations with MAX str possible only reaches 106.

although I still like my scythe wielding RDD with x6 crits. Well, x6 may seem better than x4, but you'd only get an 18-20 range, so you get 5 bonus damage increments 3 times out of 20 (assuming you confirm the crit, 5x3=15 bonus damage amounts on average 20 rolls). While a crit range of 14x4 grants 3 bonus damage amounts on 7 of them for 21 bonus todal (21>15). On the long haul, 14x4 beats out 18x6 and saves you a feat to boot... Ralkain.

Err 16-20 range I think you'll find, well on my build. Don't care like it anyway
