Hiya guys! Wow, this one sounds really great! I'm thinking of trying it out, but, I hope I don't sound stupid now, was wondering what I should put my skillpoints into, besides tumble and disc? I'm thinking, from reading the thread, concentration and taunt? Sorry, I'm very noobish with builds This one sounds so cool and awesome, really looking forward to trying it out ty! /// Luth

Well, here's a suggested rebuild for this to take the recent changes into account. It makes some compromises, but I think it's quite solid:
Levels 1-12 Ranger 13-39 Blackguard 40 Ranger
Abilities Str 14 44 [56] Dex 8 8 [20] Con 14 14 [26] Int 10 10 [22] Wis 11 (16) 16 [28] Cha 16 (18) 29 [41]
Cha 1-24 (+6) Str 28-60 (+14)
Skills Discipline 63 (all levels) Tumble 60 (legendary levels after LSA Tumble) Hide 43 (ranger levels) Taunt 55 (max at 60 with remaining points)
Feats 1 WP Exotic 1 Blooded 1 FE: Outsiders (F) 3 WF Whip 5 FE: Aberrations (F) 6 Power Attack 9 Cleave 10 FE: (free choice) (F) 12 IC Whip 15 Blind Fighting 18 Toughness 21 Great Charisma 1 24 Epic Weapon Focus (Whip) 25 Great Smiting 1 (B) 27 Great Smiting 2 28 Great Smiting 3 (B) 30 Great Smiting 4 31 Great Smiting 5 (B) 33 Great Smiting 6 34 Great Smiting 7 (B) 36 Great Smiting 8 37 Great Smiting 9 (B) 39 Great Smiting 10 41 Tome of Enchantment (+13 Blade Thirst/GMW) 42 Epic Prowess 45 Legendary Weapon Focus (Whip) 48 Armor Skin 51 LSA Tumble 54 Extra Smiting 57 Great Strength 1 60 Great Strength 2
AB 20 (BAB) + 10 (Epic) + 15 (LBAB) + 7 (feats) + 23 (Str) + 20 (buffs) ---- 95
AC 10 (base) + 20 (dodge) + 9 (armor + dex) + 18 (armor enchantment) + 3 (shield) + 16 (Pentavite enchantment) + 16 (natural) + 16 (deflection) + 12 (tumble) + 2 (armor skin) ---- 122 (126 with Girding; 128 with BURs)
If you wanted to go for even more all-out damage, you could drop Armor Skin and the two Great Strength feats for Great Cleave, Overwhelming Critical (whip), and Devastating Critical (whip). You'd still end up with 4 more AC than the previous build thanks to LSA Tumble.

"Some compromises"
I don't mean to be offensive...but a smiter with no Extra Smiting? Thats something I'd never do, because its murder on the smite timer.
Also, I lose 1% infliction, 1 BG level of smite damage and timer, and 1d6 sneak attack - all the time.
In addition, its down 6 STR over my original build, 4 str over my planned rebuild (yes, my plan is to get LWF and Leg Enchant for 2 great str feats in LLS)
I have a murderously difficult time as it is using KD or Imp Disarm - both class specials. Losing more base AB would put both of those even further out of reach. Or...is losing 6 STR somehow recouped in a way I'm not aware of?
Also - how are you getting so many skillpoints? I know I don't have that many skillpoints. I've got enough for Discipline, CC Tumble, and like 20someodd for Taunt left over...after a couple in Hide before 12 for BG prereqs.

"Some compromises" I don't mean to be offensive...but a smiter with no Extra Smiting? Thats something I'd never do, because its murder on the smite timer. Extra Smiting is there, at level 54. BG level does not affect smite timer that I'm aware of. Yes, you do lose 1% infliction, some smite damage, and 1d6 sneak attack. I did mention compromises. Losing the BG bonus feat for 28 BG hurts as well. Again, compromise. Don't forget party synergy as well. WIth the extra AB they get, WMs will now even be -more- capable of KDing/disarming stuff with the help of your infliction. And 95 AB (94 with Dev Crit) is quite sufficient to rip things apart. Taunt skill helps lower enemy AC as well. 10 base Int, then: Ranger 1st level = 20 skill points 12 ranger levels = 60 skill points 47 blackguard levels = 141 skill points for a total of 221 skill points Acaos

Well, if you want 10 base int...where are you going to get it from? 11 base wisdom is unchangeable, 17 base charisma is necessary to save feats and reach 25 minimum in time to get great smite 10 by 40. 8 dex already, can't take from there...so another -40 hps, or -1 ab/dmg?? On a race that has no strength bonus?? And 1020 hps on its best day??
Frankly, both of those options really suck. Front line tanks with low hps are going to have a hard time doing their jobs. And sacrificing defense for offense is part of the quasi, so it doesn't make sense when the STR is whats continually being hit - because its sacrificing defense for offense and then sacrificing offense.
And I don't forget party synergy. However...I get Improved KD and Improved Disarm as CLASS SKILLS. Call me crazy, but when I get something as a class skill - I want it to work. Else why get it? I accept that others will be better at it, because I can do something no one else can - inflict. I don't need to be the best at it. I do expect class benefits to work.
Aaand yes, I missed the Extra Smiting. My mistake.
Still - did your original count of skillpoints have 10 or 8 base int as the measure? 'cause that -1 kinda hurts, which is why I don't want to see what was already a class skill based on level, be suddenly based on skillpoints - when I already have more available skillpoint options being added.

I'm just about to reincarnate this toon, were you planning on updating this Delf, or have you walked away in disgust?
Going by Acaos' suggestion: I get 3 extra points to spend, where would they be best suited?

Mmm I wasn't really planning on updating or making other changes. After all, with Reincarnation in I dropped 2 str and picked up Legendary Enchant and Legendary Weapon Focus. Which in effect means I gained more damage from +14 soak penetration, and also more AB from LWF. I've got Epic Fiend from the Minauros Summoning Pandect, though Improved Sneak Attack would also be a worthy choice. And Malavaine's conquered Asmodeus FIVE TIMES now. So, even though the conceal change was a significant defensive hit, and I had to lose my basic taunt ability to try to get more Hide...The build beats Nessus, which is what it should do

I have started a lasher some time ago and thx to delf I got a baseborn titan book to start out with.
I have now reincd my lasher due some lvling mistakes. I have also seen the works of the feats you need to make a great lasher. Now I have a question about divine shield. It hardly helps with your AC, if a great team is assembled so I am thinking about change that divine shield out with blooded to get a constant plus in my AC. I lose the dmg shield and the divine immunity, but with all the equips you can get, it seems to be a gain rather than a loss in power. What are you guys' thoughts and that particular change?

Is this still a good build to try out? I am currently level 8 with it and was wondering if it's still a viable build. I like it a lot so far even though I am not that far into it so I would really like to know if I will be able to finish this without any problems. Nice build Delfestra and thanks for posting it! Any thoughts on dropping STR a few points in favour of INT at character creation and getting craft weapon and/or armor? For -4 STR (2 AB and dmg) you could get +2 AB (no change) and +2 AC (assuming bard song to boost both skills up to 80).
Acaos' version of Delf's build, with Craft Armor/Weapon:
