Or transmutation so bladethirst works on piercing and bludg weapons. Although I'm not sure if that is needed for the rangers own weapon or just others.
Also not sure if the book works since it says you need Greater Spell Focus....

trans is needed for your own weapons too if not slashing
I did read enchantment, but think that +13 isn't really an improvement over +12 (though mostly in hells), as it is I'm wishing I'd gone transmutation, mostly because if I stick a small weapon in the offhand (no other feats) the offhand ab goes down 2 while main hand goes up 2... might be worth it in some fights, plus add some blunt damage or other exotic types for instance, especially against crit immune mobs.

With enchant you also get a buff to greater magic fang. Perhaps that is useful for creatures you dominate with animal empathy? Or hopefully the Ranger summons will be improved as well in the summons update. It's too bad you need Legendary Enchant for the +14.
I managed to work both into my build as I plan on using short swords.

Any suggestions for an open subby?
I'm trying a Bugbear (mostly for sentimental reasons). The -3 on INT hurts with this subby, I might re-do with a half orc, but that isn't much better.
But his AC is woeful at 40th.
Low INT means dropping craft armour, and DEX and WIS are both four lower after creation, meaning a drop of 4 on AC. So at L40, with common or garden pre-immo gear (either Mage Blight Robes or Ranger Secret), he has an AC of 85. Yeech. I might be able to squeeze one or two more with some better gear, but he's so not ready for Drow, let alone beyond.
Is this the curse of a STR ranger? Woeful AC early on? I could of course trade STR stat gains for WIS, a direct AC/AB trade, but if I go down this path I may as well go a Dexer (or, in even less sane moments, a Zen archer)
Hi damage output is good though, including against crit immune.
Suggestions? Or am I pushing this idea too far?

Seriously, for an open subby I'd suggest a dex ranger. Even with one-eyed, you're already looking at fairly low AB, and the AC is right at the cut-off of where I'd even consider playing a lightly armored build. A dex ranger on the other hand can be made quite viable for the hells with free subbies, and while not quite matching the damage output, more than makes up for that with survivability.

Make the dex ranger first. Then you will have a perfectly good char to reinc into a monster of a str ranger, when you have the books needed for it =)

Shouldn't Rangers wear Light Armor rather than Robes? Yep, and like I said ... I might be able to squeeze one or two more with some better gear ... Robes vs Light is +3 at most Grog

Robes vs light armor is adding your wis modifier when you wear the latter, for me generally 10 ac, plus 3 more (hide armor).
A robe wearing ranger would have to have 80 dex to match a 48+ dex light armor wearing ranger

re-reading, I think you're underestimating the AC gained from wis I do believe my last ranger (dex) to immo went from 94ish ac at 39 to 114ish AC at 40, before killing the immo (due to gear available) and a str ranger wouldn't be much lower at that point. Here's a repost, maybe that'll help you on an AC issue The weird ac increase is because you get offhand wis ac and light armor wis ac. offhand AC is level/4 cap, determined by wis modifier x1.5 So at 14 wis (26 with gear, 8 modifier) (8 x 1.5 =12) you are capped at 12 offhand AC and get 8 light armor wis ac At 16 wis (28 with gear, 9 modifier) (9 x1.5=13.5) you are capped at 13 offhand AC and get 9 light armor wis ac at 18 wis (30 with gear, 10 modifier) (10x1.5=15) you are capped at the full 15 offhand ac and get 10 light armor wis ac For a dex ranger, in UR light armor, assuming LSA tumble, the ac progression (at 60) would thus be: 8 wis 126ac 10 wis 129ac 12 wis 131ac 14 wis 134ac 16 wis 136ac 18 wis 139ac 20+ wis, +1ac per 2 wis To figure out final ac for a pure str ranger, use the above AC depending on your base wis, and subtract [(48 - final dex)/2]

Whoa, my bad.
I thought Ranger AC was +WIS bonus in "Light Armour or lighter".
So interestingly, the Ranger Secret doesn't allow WIS bonus ...
How odd ...

Those secrets were in some time before the changes to Ranger were done so when they were put in they were really nice.

Isn't the base race for One-Eyed supposed to be Half-Orc ? You have Human as the base for that version of the build , under your starting stats .
