This is my build for a Rapier using bard
its a lot of fun, but requires hard to get items to be viable
64 buffed cha gives 5 possums, colossal HMR UUU auras and 40 ticks
divine might, warcry and song boost piercing damage
it should be noted that though it is cha based this is not a caster due to the lack of spell penetration, slots from gear and 20% spell failure in combat (unless you happen to have a nice shield)

boots: tia bard boots/mordenkainens mockery
helm: visor of vigilance (+14 str,wis,cha)
gloves: gauntlets of transposed energy
cloak: introweave cape
amulet: specters necklace
mote: mote of puissant performance
rings: breach ring + immunity ring (depending on area)
the charisma artifact would be best
use energy resist pandect (acid or fire)
i have covered the lack of perform on gear with augmenters. VoV or sonar amplifier are needed for epic skill focus listen. you could switch out medium armor and large shield for robes, malb shield and use EV. you wouldn't get the 20% spell failure but would take a hit to AC that is not worth it to me. i get round this by having a shield that has -35% spell failure. you could drop legendary artist or armor skin for still spell to get round this
if used cha arty or x1 demi you could drop 2 great cha for still spell and greater weapon focus
i plan to use augmenters to get improved and power crit

Notes on playing:
you are a bard, even though you can hit stuff your reason for being is to sing for the party and curse the enemies. the only thing you should do before cursing in combat is activate UUU if a KD mob spawns, then curse. always keep an eye on the party, they will need song when they die (i have the possum token on my main quick bar so i can see if anyone dies)
to buff outside of combat you should remove armor or switch to robes if u dont want to be called "bikini bard" , if you need to rebuff just cast the essentials (displacement, energy buffer, improved heroism) and make sure there successful. that said sophia is at 127 AC and was tanking PFs in mala with just song.
activate divine might before every spawn, it doesnt last long but iv never run out of turns to fuel it before bardsong.
this build is vulnerable to str and dex KD, so UUU is top priority.
persuade is great for any caster, buff with extended silver tongue and use it on anything with high SR.
EV is not worthless its grants immunity the spells lower than lvl 6 and is good to have incase you need to switch to robes.
every now and then you will get stuck in mobs, dont panic. if everything is cursed you should be able to tank them, if not cursed cast GV and wait for them to move away so you can get to the uncursed mobs. then back to hitting them
hope for the best, plan for the worst. i carry robes and malb shield just in case my nice shield gets slag/echo'd and i want to buff in combat
