I just wanted to bring this up because I've heard the idea tossed around before.
Requirements would be wiz or sorc and shadowdancer levels. Shadow Conjuration spells, and probably any invisibility, darkness, dark-ish spells (like weird, wail, curse, cloudkill, other necro spells like circle of death) would get a bonus. The DC would be based on Dex, so you'd be a specialty combat caster, perhaps getting concealment (maybe disallowing shield), lowering stats on enemies (replacing the insta-death effects), slowing, holding, etc, like a mage assassin.
For instance:
Darkness -> blinds mobs in cloud, or disables blindfight for mobs Invisibility Sphere -> gives nearby allies +2/3% conceal per ShadowCaster level, stacking with selfconceal Weird -> will save or stunned Wail -> Bestow Curse on mobs Grease -> reflex save or slowed Timestop -> casts Slow (with save) on all mobs in area

I know this is very old, but I really like this idea.
Thus far, my favorite quasi-classes are the quasi-casters.
I think a Wizard/Shadowdancer quasi would work well and be much more interesting, fluff-wise, than a standard wizard rogue, as you could require SF and GSF Illusion and make all Shadow Caster (Shadowmancer) spells use Illusion.
This would be an exellent extension of the Shadow Dancer class into a stealther who uses cloaking magic and illusion.
Just my 2 cents.
