Xerxian Evocationalist - the xerxian Evocationalist is priest of Xerxian, able to cast both divine and arcane spells, who chooses to exclusively study the evocation school of magic.
requirements:
10 wizard + 10 cleric by level 25
epic spell focus evocation
spellcraft 25
at level 25, if the character meets these requirements, the character gains
-> +3 to evocation DC
-> free power attack (for 2 blackguard levels if they choose to take cleave)
-> arcane defense, which grants a special 25+cleric level + wizard level SR against evocation spells (dunno if its possible/plausible)
spells: the XE gains no extra spells beyond what they learn from their normal experience.
for calculating SR, damage (mostly capped i know), and other effects, evocation spells take 6/5 cleric level + 6/5 wizard level. all other schools apply the same formula except with 3/5.
DC: once a character has reached legendary levels, there is no save versus evocational spells which do purely elemental damage. so spells like fireball, cone of cold, chain lightning no longer respect improved evasion. spells like meteor swarm still have their reflex saves intact, because they do divine damage.
i forgot to mention that dc for all spells should probably be just wisdom + intelligence.
this caster focuses on the elemental/evocational spells, but must have good knowledge of which spells to use, and when. their spells become very powerful, but they cannot do the standard cheese monk/paladin. power attack allows for blackguard (if they take cleave) but means that there is no monk ac bonus, and vice versa which then makes you choose between armor and no arcane spells (effectively negating half of your abilities) or lowered ac for more offensive capabilities. at the same time, this build does not give extra spells/day, so you will have to balance your caster gear b/w the two.
i am hoping that simply removing the dc on reflex saves for selected spells will mean that improved evasion doesn't ruin this build and that it will also not require increasing damage caps or calculating fresh dcs. i also hope that it will allow the user to choose whether to go cleric or wizard for control. as the higher level evocation spells mostly do exotic damage by the time the character hits LL, there is little to alter, if anything at all.
thanks for reading.
