As was mentioned in the most recent update post, we've started adding support for ego items (items which will not allow themselves to be worn with other ego items), relics (essentially, ego items which will tolerate other ego items belonging to the same deity or other power source), and gestalt items (items which, when used together, are more powerful than the sum of their parts).
Now that we have this support, of course we need more suggestions for these items.
First, a technical detail: All gestalt items have a 'core' and then one or more 'peripheral' items. To gain any gestalt benefits, you must have the core item equipped (that is, any additional properties for the gestalt always appear on the core item). Adding peripheral items will then grant additional benefits on the core item. Note that the core item does not necessarily have to be the most powerful item in the gestalt.
Here are a few possible sample items, to get you an idea of what we're looking for. These items would have other properties as well (not everything is listed):
Willworker's Staff (ego)
- When you use the Unique Power on this staff, it will bind itself permanently to you. When wielded, the staff grants a permanent +1 bonus caster level, as if you had a single invocation of Energy Drain on you.
Trump of Doom (ego)
- A bard holding the Trump of Doom has the radius of their Curse Song increased by 25%. In addition, the bard is immune to the effects of Curse Song themselves.
- The Trump of Doom may be used once per day to strike fear into all nearby creatures (excluding bosses).
Anbaric Gauntlets (gestalt core)
- When used with the Anbaric Lance, these gauntlets extend the protective field generated by the Lance in a Large radius around you, allowing other combatants to gain the same benefits with their weapon.
- When used with both the Anbaric Necklet, these gauntlets extend a protective field identical to the Anbaric Lance to any weapon you are currently wielding.
- When used with both items together, the Anbaric Lance forces any construct struck to make a Fortitude save versus a DC equal to (20 + your Strength modifier) or be slain.
Talona's Fangs and Mask (relics)
- Any creature struck by a Talona's Fang (the core) must make a saving throw versus poison or be weakened, having its damage done in combat reduced.
- When used together with Talona's Mask, the target will also have its Fortitude save lowered by one point when you strike it. This effect will not stack with itself. In addition, the user gains feat-class immunity to poison.
- When both the Mask and a second Fang are used, the Fortitude save reduction increases to two points. In addition, vulnerable targets who fail their saving throw versus the weakness poison must immediately make a second Fortitude save or become briefly sick and helpless.
Design Rules and Notes
- Gestaltness and Ego/Relicness are orthogonal; you can make gestalt items which are not relics and relics which are not gestalt.
- Relics do not need to be deity-sourced, though a list of FR deities is included below and any relics of a deity should follow that deity's theme.
- Feel free to suggest enhancements to existing items as part of a gestalt (see the Anbaric set above).
- Immunity to AoE mords/dispel is not feasible at this time.
- Immunity to mords on a non-ring item should be at the very least a relic.
- Immunity to Time Stop is possible, but should be at least a 2-item gestalt benefit.
- Any item with crit imm, half KB, or a swappable 100% immunity should be at least a relic if not ego, unless very heavily restricted in other ways (see Gift of Undeath).
Below is a table of the Forgotten Realms deities (from Wikipedia, for reference).
Thanks,
