Hi peeps! im having a major problem here..i cant connect to HG...or if i cant connect the game will be very very laggy like beyond playable. I tried other servers and i seem not to have any issue. Upon logging in to gamespy HG ping will always appear as -1 or offline. And when the pings shows 300+ which is the usual ping tht i'll always see, it will take me a very very long time to connect and then the timeout msg appear...any of u have any ideas....i need my daily dosage of HG Barra

I would try to install Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware:Malwarebytes and do a complete scan with it. I had some problems last year and this program fixed it for me. Though with me I wasnt able to join any other server, it wasnt only HG, but it doesnt hurt to scan your PC ^^

When things like this happen to me, I 1) reboot PC + router, modem, whatever and if that does not helps 2) check the Internet connectivity. There are many browser based checks. Try to find them with "speedchecker + internet". Last time I had issues, my dsl-modem was "near dead" and its hard to notice, but a speed check is a good hint.

If this is really only happening to you on HG, then there's likely a problem with the internet at some station between you and our servers, and there's nothing you can do about it (though it'll probably be fixed soonish).
If you're getting this on all servers, there are a number of possiblities. When I had this problem, it was because an automatic windows update had updated my network card's drivers, and rolling them back to an older version fixed it. This can also be caused by antivirus programs, malware, and routers, modems, and other issues.
So, please check again to see if you're able to get other servers at reasonable pings. If not, almost definitely a problem with your computer, modem, or router.
Also, have you been able to connect to HG without problems in the past? If so, when did the problem start, precisely? Did you change anything about your computer setup around that time?

The pings are quite high, or -1. I'd try doing a tracert to one of the servers, and see if that has any useful information attached to it.

Looks like there might be a problem at step 18. Steps 21 and beyond are quite normal, though, as the server's host is firewalled.
Past that, I can't help more until you answer my questions.

You might want to check the Client Port setting in your nwnplayer.ini. Try changing it to a different port (for example, 5152).
