Bad’s Guide to posting flyers.
I find that many tasks become easier if you break them down into steps:
1. Set a goal, what do you want to get out of all this? BUR aug? two, three more?
2. Do the math and come up with how many physical vs. e-posts that will take.
3. Print out and cut up the flyers
4. Pick your targets, having done this now I have found some things that lower resistance to you posting flyers and many places that encourage you to do so
a. If you don’t know where things are in your area google your area and that type of business.
i. Games/Hobby Store ii. Independent book store iii. Independent coffee shop iv. Local Library v. Local community center vi. Any University vii. College viii. Trade School ix. Metaphysical Store x. Yoga Studio/Martial Arts Studio xi. Supermarket xii. Video Game Store
5. To lower resistance, I am very upfront, I don’t troll the store working up to courage to ask, I come in and let them know that I am posting flyers for a free gaming group online, and would be ok if I put this up somewhere.
Make sure you tell them its free so you don’t get treated like a salesman.
Many of the Libraries, community centers and Universities don’t seem to have a bulletin board Nazi and here you are free to just walk, up post, photo and go. (Make sure you have tape and thumb tacks with you)
6. I suggest having a rough list in your head of all the places you want to hit and in what order you want to hit them. Then just go out do it, then post here. Easy!
Looking forward to seeing many more of you sporting some uber auged items very soon.

Bad’s Guide to E-Posts
In trying to promote HG via Guerrilla Marketing, I have learned quite a few things I wanted to share so that hopefully, this knowledge will make our combined marketing efforts more effective.
The fundamental reason for any posting is to help interested players find us and give our server a try. To this end there are several things that can be counterproductive.
1. Very long Posts that look like the advertisement pieces they are: I doubt that when scanning a game forum any of us would be drawn to read a huge wall of text about some server we never heard about.
2. Very short and obnoxious posts “HG is like totally cool DUDE!!!” also not what we are after.
What we want is something short that lets them know what’s great about us and how to find us.
Example:
• If own, or are thinking about buying Neverwinter Nights 1, I would strongly suggest trying Higher Ground Persistent world. bb.hgweb.org
The quality and sheer scope of the campaign is breathtaking. Most importantly it is still well populated 24/7 Has a great community
And it’s free if you own the game or $10 if you buy NWN and expansions from gog.com
I am not being paid to do this, I just love hg and wanted to let people know they existed.
I used the above quite successfully on YouTube with no moderation.
But the first thing to look at in this type of marketing is where to find our target audience. For this google is quite useful. Try googling “Neverwinter nights persistent worlds” and see which links have boards that you can register to post on.
Once you have registered, look for a discussion about Neverwinter Nights persistent worlds that is less than 6 months old. Many forums frown on posting in threads that are older than that.
Actually read what the thread was about and try to form you post as taking part in the discussion and be nice thus “ xyz server sucks come to HG” would not help in our goals.
If there is not a current thread on the forums about NWN then starting a thread needs to be done carefully to prevent moderation. Ask a friend to start the thread with a question, “Are any NWN 1 persistent worlds still online and is anyone still playing them?” This is a great intro to a short and sweet post about us, and should not draw moderation.
Ok so the above works great for forums posting where else can you post?
Many games sites will allow you to blog, and here the gloves are off when blogging you are allowed to give a much better explanation about your topic and not get moderated.
Talk about what you did on HG this week; funny things, disasters, special events, runs you signed up for. You are pretty free to share your experiences of HG.
Video commentary, youtube, xfire and many other video sites allow you to comment. This can be really useful because even corporate Bioware videos are open to comment.
Rules for video comments:
1. Keep it very short.
2. Do say something about the Video or game or event being shown
3. Don’t put in full urls, use something like bb.hgweb.org
4. Use a reason for your comment “Wow, this video is great it reminds me of some of the promo videos from Higher Ground I have seen. Btw that’s an amazing server and it’s still going full force. If you get curious about it check them out at bb.hgweb.org”
Local community boards, Local craigslist, town boards, free classifieds online these are all very loosely moderated and therefore allow you to pretty openly advertise for us.
Do try to be careful out there if you get banned from a few forums you will have a much harder time registering new accounts with other forums (Nothing is truly private on the net).
Thus when planning an assignment try to sign up for all your accounts first, this way it will not affect your registration if thing get moderated and you are banned.
Thats all for now,
Bad

Just wondering if this is still open? I didn't see a close date, I have printed out the posters and scoped out some places to post and before I drive around just wanted to make sure that this project is still open. Not that I wouldn't do it for a BUR augment... well, maybe not 9.

Love the idea, don't know what the heck it is about though.
But this takes advertising to a whole new level I believe.

Even still open??? I live in the middle of a city with 2 major universities, a half dozen or so smaller colleges, and dozens and dozens of coffee shops, game shops, new age shops etc. My schedule has recently changed so not only will I be able to spend more time on HG I plan on taking my two young sons on a "family day" blitz of the aforementioned places, taking some cultural side-stops (Cathedral of Learning, Museum etc) along the way. I am thinking I can hit about 25 spots in a few hours without trying too hard.
