Ok well am sat in my flat watching the news, worried sick, shop across the road from me has packed up and closed a couple of hours early to go home thanks to major riots in London, I live smack bang in the middle of two areas that have now been hit. Getting kind of worried about me family now. The two areas hit are literaly a half hour walk away from me in either direction. My heart goes out to those living in and stuck in these areas trying to get home from work away from their homes and loved ones. Pictures on the news are showing huge fires on shops, vehicles (cars and busses), and I hope they make it safe through the night. I'm sat here glued to the TV watching news for the first time in years worrying when I'm guna start seeing pictures of buildings in Greenwich on fire. Cata

I have a locked front door in a third floor flat, if they want to come through my front door best they can do is one or two at a time and they can't flank me so no way around, I also have a very narrow halway and a nice piece of metal to hit people with.
Hopefully it wont come to that but they just set fire to a McDonalds literally 5 minutes down the road from us.

I'm ignorant when it comes to the goings-on outside of my hometown; why are they rioting?
**EDIT** Nevermind. Is this the man that was shot 7 times and killed?

What on earth makes people think that a riot is a good idea?

Am pretty sure it's been organised.
Latest is Blackberry has been used to spread the word.
Still up watching the scenes on news, it's pretty insane tbh but nothing touching us as yet.

I'm generally pretty big on civil liberties and privelages being protected, but violent rioters and looters have no excuse. Declare martial law and shoot on sight imo. Hope you stay safe.

I am very pleased to hear that you and your family are all unharmed Cata. Also good to know you didnt get to use the metal piece, although that sometimes seems like the best thing to do. Hope to see you online soonish again, we had a blast last time in Phleg (wasn't it ) ?
I hope this calms down even more, so ppl are safe to go outside their own houses without risking their lives or be brutally vandalized or badly injured.

Latest news is that the police don't want the army involved cause they can handle it......yeah cause they did so well last night, I had to go into Woolwich this morning and it looked like they handled it just fine.....only one pub burnt to the ground, a shop on the high street torched a supermarket torched and every single shop on the high street either completely cleared out oor at the very least windows smashed and shop goods strewn all over and now we are hearing theat the police expect rioters to hit greenwich tonight and are advising shops and local businesses to close up and go home.......sorry not advising, ordering them to.
It's expected to start with rioters walking through Greenwich at about 7pm tonight.
Banks in the area are already closing and have signs up advising people to stay home and not go out tonight. Panick buying is already going on with people running round trying to stock up on food and such :/
Not fun right now....
