Trying to join, but they have me running here and there for stuff THEY should be able to get themselves. If they need us so bad, why don't they do what they are being paid for? Recruiting, means THEY DO THE WORK! Not me, geeze lol. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Just curious to find others experience. This is the USMC btw.

So you want to be a Marine but you don't want to do a few things to become a Marine? Heck, maybe you can just take the online test and skip that bothersome travel and PE training at camp where, so I gather, they make you run around getting stuff.

I don't appreciate you sarcasm darc, I didn't ask for insulting remarks. I had already told him I can't find a ride anywhere, and he wants me to go 10 miles into the courthouse somehow.
I just asked them to send me a paper to exspunge my police records and tell him they are expunged. Simplest way I knew how to do it.

What kind of stuff? Basically, the day you finally meet your Senior Drill Instructor and the "J-Belts" they make you dump all your stuff out of your seabags (they like to form what they call a "Mount Suribach") out in the floor.. while they're yelling at you at the top of their lungs and counting down from 20 to 0 for each and every thing they ask you to do. It's quite an awesome time. You have to scamper around trying to find what you thought was your belt, your boots or your socks. . .(total chaos) Meanwhile, you're scared to death and the drill instructors are pacing around the squad bay in the most intense manner you'll ever witness or experience! (They also like to call this "Black Friday") Such a wonderful experience!!

I think there may be privacy or legal restrictions with the police records that would make it very difficult or impossible for the recruiter to take care of.

I had already told him I can't find a ride anywhere, and he wants me to go 10 miles into the courthouse somehow Umm...not to be too critical here...but seriously? How can you be sitting on a computer somewhere playing HG and browsing the HG forums but you can't figure out some method of getting 10 miles to do something important? Even by bike 10 miles isn't that far... Sorry if I am being a jerk but if you are serious about trying to join the Marines it seems to me that you will find a way to do what is necessary...to twist the expression "you make the time" into use here: if you really want something to happen, you will make it happen.

I think there may be privacy or legal restrictions with the police records that would make it very difficult or impossible for the recruiter to take care of. Correct on the legal issue, but, if the recruiter wants this quota, (s)he has a government issued vehicle and it is completely correct for them to use it in this case. This would definitely fall under the category of, "Official Business".

The USMC recruiters job is different in that he is to ensure the worthiness of potential recruits rather than try to simply grab up and enable everyone who seems to be interested. The Corps does not sell its self to you, you gotta sell yourself to the Corps. If you think they are asking too much of you to transport yourself 10 miles, you have no idea of what you are getting into. That is not meant to be mean, just informative. Strap 70 pounds on your back and hump that as quickly as you possibly can that 10 miles and you will have made your first step in proving yourself and have your first taste of what you are getting into. THIS might help to answer some of your questions.
