I'd have to say that although I understand and agree with any hesitation to comment/critique builds for the contest, I also agree wholeheartedly with what redbeard has said. As Niilo mentioned earlier, one of the best things for new players is too see commentary and dialogue on builds. When I was "freshly-minted" I spent countless hours reading through build threads with page after page of debate, discussion, and re-do/edits. I see the advantage of such dialogue as oftentimes more for a prospective build-user rather than the builder herself, and the main beneficiary of it is often a new player, more than a vet. Although I definitely agree with redbeard's list of "no-no" ways to critique a build, I'd be lying if I said that I didn't gain use from similarly "harsh" criticism on builds in the past. Even something like "this build sucks, and after nerf X you should really be building Y anyway" is not very helpful at face value, and insulting/offending, but to be totally honest seeing something like that would make me do more research and try to understand why the critiquer was saying that. Not trying to justify or say there should be an allowance for such behavior, especially in contest builds, but again just being compeltely honest, I found even "you're wasting your time building X without BUR subrace Y" to be helpful. Shrug. Anyway, long story short I like seeing critique and dialogue even on contest builds (lord knows I read a lot of it when I was trying to figure out open sub builds) so I say go for it.

Such criticism can be offered in a respectful manner, though. And, for me at least, it makes the criticism easier to digest, even as a third party trying to understand the conversation.

Ok, 2 more ShadowDancer Entries: Shadow of the Arctic (2brd/8pal/50sd) is a STR-based SD. The Kobold's Shadow (8pal/2brd/50sd) is a Sword-and-board DEX-based SD. I feel that The Kobold's Shadow is different enough from Furax Umbra to warrant a space alongside it, since Furax Umbra is what I would call a "utility" shadowdancer, where The Kobold's Shadow is a full tank, with full Parry and Discipline in the place of rogue skills. Both builds are still under construction as far as "extras" and formatting go, but I do welcome comments on them. :-) --Arek

An idea for consideration: Have a single prize (whatever) that is given to a randomly determined build newbie (someone who hasn't posted a build before this contest). This only has merit if it is deemed to be sufficient incentive for people who haven't been involved in the build forums before. I know, as a newbie, that I find it intimidating.
Since I would fall in that category, if this idea is used, I voluntarily remove myself from the running.
