Grim Destruction
Pure 40 Monk
This is a strength focused Monk the purpose of this build will be to dish out reasonable damage quickly. The monk class also has many defensive bonuses over many of the other classes including high concealment, saves, and spell resistance. Monks with enough strength, as this build will have, as also able to get immunity to critical hits.
Sub-race choice:
Grimlock
This is a Human sub-race so you must select human and type the sub-race exactly as shown above. This race was selected as it provides the best distribution of stats for a STR focused Monk. The biggest drawback for this sub-race is the vulnerability and penalties to WIS and INT.
Class choices:
-Monk (Mnk): The whole purpose is to build a monk so that's what we are using
This class has many class combination options however there are also several benefits to going pure and that is what this build will be doing.
The tables below will guide you through the leveling process notes on it can be found at the end of each section. Items which have a note at the end of their section will be marked with a *. Before we start I will highlight a few of the benefits this build takes advantage of.
Please note that Tumble uses base ranks only.

Sub-race Edits:
Pre-Epic:
Pre Epic Notes:
You can choose a different weapon focus but stick to Monk weapons. The monk weapons are Unarmed, Kama, Goad, Nunchaku, or Quarterstaff. Note that Flurry of Blows does not work for the Quarterstaff. You will also get an innate survival skill of your choice at level 20. You can claim this survival skill from the spell pedestal located near the docks.

Pre Epic Notes:
You will be able to get a 2nd innate survival skill of your choice at level 40. You can claim this survival skill from the spell pedestal located near the docks.
Legendary:
Legendary Notes:
The boost to spell resistance and physical immunities available to monks is not granted immediately. You will need to log into a fresh server a possible alternative is to die and be revived, by immortal auto revive or by spell, I cannot confirm that it will grant the bonuses.
Final Stats:
Saves, AC, and AB are given using +12 stats boost and BUR gear.
Final Notes:
The most common survival skills you will need are Water Breathing and Levitation so they are highly recommended choices. Gearing a build like this will be tougher than most STR tanks as you will focus more on soaks and immunities as your AC will be much lower than most other tanks and melee toons. With the right gear and buffs you can expect an AC around 120. Weapon choice is up to you Quarterstaffs and Unarmed does the highest base physical damage but each have a drawback. The Quarterstaff will not allow you to carry a Flag/Torch which can grant plenty of immunities and soak. The Unarmed route you will be unable to get Enhancements on your gloves making it difficult to bypass enemies soak as well Craft Weapon will not grant any AB so you will be 1 to 2 AB lower than an armed monk.

Diamond Soul
- For legendary Monks, spell resistance increases at an accelerated rate. The increased progression is (10 + 7/6 x Monk level). Improved Spell Resistance feats still add two to this total per feat.
Empty Body
- Grants +1% concealment per Monk level above 20, to a maximum of 70% at level 40.
- For legendary Monks, Empty Body gives an additional +1% concealment per 2 legendary levels, and duration increases by one round per legendary level.
- Empty Body costs 1 point of Ki per round to use. Monks get a pool of Ki equal to (Monk level including LL + Base Wis score) * 3
Wholeness of Body
- Monks get a pool of Ki equal to (Monk level including LL + Base Wis score) * 3. Wholeness of Body will consume 2 points of Ki per round when in use.
- When used by a legendary Monk with at least 40 base Strength, Wholeness of Body will provide critical hit immunity. The Monk can use Wholeness of Body again at any time to disable the critical hit immunity and cease the expenditure of Ki.

Blind Fight
- Blind Fight's implementation has changed, but the effects have not. When swinging at enemies, the conceal you see in the combat log will be the adjusted concealment after Blind Fight and other conceal reduction, rather than the base concealment.
Greater Weapon Focus
- Greater Weapon Focus feats require Weapon Focus in the specified weapon and add +1 to your AB with that weapon.
Legendary Save Feats
- Legendary Luck requires the Luck of Heroes feat and adds +3 to your Fortitude, Reflex, and Will saves.
Craft Armor
- Now grants +1 AC per 40 points.
Craft Weapon
- Now grants +1 AB per 40 points when wielding a weapon.
Listen
- Increases your chances of hitting concealed enemies. Up to a skill of 60, the enemy concealment drops to (Concealment ** (1 + (Listen skill / 60))). With a skill above 60, the enemy concealment drops to (Concealment ** (1.5 + (Listen skill / 120))).
- A Listen skill of 60 is equivalent to having the Blind-Fight feat in reducing enemy concealment, and skill and feat do not stack. '**' is the exponentiation operator.
- If the above sounds too complex, remember that effective enemy conceal will be shown in-game.
- Being deafened halves your effective listen skill - after all other calculations
Tumble
- AC bonus is now capped at 12 - (PM + RDD AC bonuses), with a minimum cap of 6.
- If you have 5 points of AC from RDD levels, for example, the most AC you can get from Tumble ranks is 7.
- The 2 base AC from level 1 of Pale Master do not count in this calculation.
- Tumble can lower the duration of some knockdown attacks. If there is a chance of this, you will see a Tumble check when you are being knocked down.
Feat Books
- There are several series of books in the game which can add feats to characters.
- A character may only use one book from each series ever, and once read, the chosen book cannot be changed.
- The books have level prerequisites to use, but characters do not need prerequisite feats or abilities to gain the feats granted by the books.
- Tomes of Ancient Lore add Epic Spell Focus in a single school, or Epic Spell Penetration.
- Pandects of Darkest Secrets add other feats.
- Epodes give Legendary Form Focus 3 to a shifter who already has the base shape feat of that type.
- Blind Fight's implementation has changed, but the effects have not. When swinging at enemies, the conceal you see in the combat log will be the adjusted concealment after Blind Fight and other conceal reduction, rather than the base concealment.
