I find this very strange, but every map I enter loads fine until some point (everytime is the same spot) and holds on for a moment (maybe 5 seconds) and then after that waiting it finally loads the map after every tranisition.
My question is, is there a way to fix this? I can say this is not intended, and I noticed this the first time I played. It did not happen on other servers. Thanks in advance.
Also, I uptaded everything correctly, so now I really don't know what is causing this. Really annoying :/
How much RAM do you have as after playing over the years and using all sorts of graphics cards (to which I assumed map loading might be allocated) I would say with 99% certainty the speed of map loading is down to how much RAM you have. Netbook users with 1GB will notice significantly longer load times from what I've seen than folks with a crappy laptop with Intel graphics but 3GB of RAM.
I play at 1280x1024 (tried even 800x600, no change, not even on fps) all settings at full. Lowered them all and no change. Thing is, like I said, this only happens to me on this server, and at the same exact point of the load.
edit: I don't even have a laptop, it's a PC
ninja edit: my RAM is DDR1, but I hardly think that's the issue.
That issue is common to everyone I think. It's quite noticable on my laptop and only slightly noticable on my PC. They are vastly different rigs, too many differences to try and pinpoint what makes the difference. The PC has more processor, RAM, faster gfx and NIC I/O plus a totally different game .ini setup. Anywho I've never considered it to be a big deal. Sounds like a huge problem for you though.
The fact that you can play this game with 512 MB at recommended reqs, refutes that option. Hell, I'm not updating my comp anymore so that alone is a no-no.
Btw, this issue happens at all maps, not just spawning of mobs =/
edit: typos :/
Yup, the game will run well on Windows2000 with just 512mb RAM, assuming you've turned everything down and got no antivirus, firewall, etc. HoTU min requirements are 256mb FREE memory wiki entry here. Win7 needs a minimum of 1Gb IF you turn all options off within the OS and have it running on it's own see here. Add to this the requirements of the CEP, the OS, anything you may have loaded as a TSR hog like Antivirus or Firewall.. you might find 2Gb a little tight.
I wasn't being rude, just noting what worked for me. ;D
darc: I didn't know it was common, it seemed strange to me this module alone is causing this issue.
@uncanny: I'm sorry if my posts might sound rude, since I'm not english-native, it can be misleading. It just frustrating to me cos I'm used to work on fast computers, and I keep a very healthy computer maintenance (heh, it's one of my jobs after all). Thus I expect it to work properly =(
Meh, thank you for the replies, I will get used to it then.
Edit: Oh, and I don't have anything working on the background, call it anti-virus, firewalls or anything that would explain such behavior. Oh well :/
