I am having an insane amount of trouble leveling toons and can't seem to get my hands on a saphire so I want to build a toon that can kill everything with ease from the Half-Orc Bandit Chief the whole way to Axilar. Something that will be easy to level, dish out nice dmg to all the pre-ll accomplishment bosses, but doesn't necessarily have to be fun to play. I tried the hardcore build on here thats 20 some cleric levels 10 bard levels and a splash of something else, but that didnt do much to the pre-ll accomplishments. Anyone have any builds they level with ease throughout 1-40? If so could you post it here or send it to me via pm please? Thank you so much, and it is greatly appreciated!

Check out the open subrace forum. Try my build: Wise Staff. Enjoy

Try a PM? Once you get full crit immune you are much harder to put down and high DC death magic works a treat on lots of pre-LL stuff.

Cleric is probably the easiest class. If you grab plant domain (for creeping doom) it's even easier. Sorcerer (or Wizard if you don't have previous experience) are quite easy as well.
To have an easier time, try to farm some low level gear with a more powerful toon. I keep chests with equips for the following levels 10, 20, 30 and 35-40.

Play a Sorc, do quests, win..
If you get stuck needing more levels between tags, do a couple quests. Info is on wiki, just search Quest

All I can say is I don't understand where the difficulty is coming from really, you should know after playing this long that tanks can't solo, clerics are a step up but can't solo everything (Deso says clerics are the easiest, I highly disagree but maybe he can solo everything with them...I haven't figured out how but I sure have with something else), kind of narrows it down...
Think about what is limiting your ability to solo tags and connect the dots with what classes offer what tools for solving the problems...

Low level Cleric guidelines:1 - Equip the best full plate + tower shield available for good AC. 2 - Feats: Grab spell penetration (you really need this one) and Evocation spell focus (for implosion). Don't splash anything more than 2 levels, otherwise your spells won't pierce spell resistance (i.e. 10 bard splash is a terrible idea). 3 - Use spells like Storm of Vengeance, Blade Barrier, Creeping doom, Inflict XX Wounds/Harm and Destruction to damage bosses/tough enemies. 4 - Keep your buffs on, specially gate and spell resistance. 5 - Debuff the enemies with Prayer & Battletide. 6 - Rest often and spam spells frequently. 7 - Your only weakness is the lack of BBoD, Black blade of disaster, a handy spell for absorbing Greater ruins. -Like crazy said, grabbing the quests is a good way to stay at maximum level for the tags. -Wise staff is very powerful from 40 onwards due Wisdom AC. Well, my first immortal toon was a staffmaster as well, so it even without the Wisdom AC is still quite easy to level one to 40, as staffmasters don't rely so much on gear, and cna inflict several damage types. -Sorcerers are somewhat fragile, and have a tricky spells selection, tough some spells choices can make it very easy to level. For example: IGMS works really well for isolated targets The damage clouds are a great tool for damage (even at failed save) Finger of Death provides handy exotic damage for some tough enemies, like dragons. Well, If you want a tank, the easiest choices are Staffmaster (like Wise staff), a Dex based Life Threader or a Champion of Torm.

I didn't see anything in the original post about a requirement that she be able to solo all the tags. Given that, the easiest builds that I've leveled to 40 have been a Dex bard and an Intuitive Attack battle cleric, both splashing monk and paladin.

I remember Drunkenboaster getting his HC Deep Orc Paladin to level 40 with the only pre-LL tag he needed help to get being the Mother of the Corn as she is very difficult to put down unless you have access to magic (I'm assuming Force might work now?) damage.

Sorry, my mistake. Guess I made an incorrect assumption based on this wording: I want to build a toon that can kill everything with ease from the Half-Orc Bandit Chief the whole way to Axilar Emphasis on "everything", "with ease" and "kill everything" and "kill everything with ease". My understanding was that if you can kill everything with ease then you are soloing it? Because if you can't kill everything then you are needing someone's help? Which seemed to be the problem they wanted to avoid? Also the part about having a hard time leveling seemed to say that this player either can't or doesn't want to find a group to help; thus it seemed clear that they were asking for a toon that can easily kill every tag without relying on anyone's help. Hence, a toon that can solo all these tags. It didn't make sense to me at the time to think that this player was merely asking for basic newbie help with "what kind of toon can survive? I can't get anywhere : ( help me build a toon that is ok". However after some thought it seems apparent that this may well have been precisely what they wanted.

Well try Open subrace builds. White Mage is a pretty good cleric build (it can do what I said). The The Airy Wayfarer of the Staff was the first build I used, even tough it might be a bit out-of-date it works perfectly up to level 60.

something that can solo easily from 1-40 I'll try one more time: Nothing but an arcane is going to solo, let alone solo easily, from 1-40. And directing this player to newbie info or open builds is not giving them any info they don't already know. This is not a new player by any means, and it seems obvious enough that in fact this player has actually created open sub builds and posted them, in the open sub contest no less. Why does that seem obvious? Well, the "not a new player" part has long been obvious based on this account's dramatic entrance onto the forums; the open sub builds part "seems" obvious to me after another user flat-out asked if they were indeed the same person as another, older account, and the question was ignored. Lack of denial alone seems pretty clear. Anyway back on topic, it was obvious from the OP they were asking for a solo build, I don't see why I was the only one to understand that.

My first character to get to Immo was a pure cleric (open subbie, my own build). I found the toon very easy to use for almost all pre-ll tags, with a few exceptions. However, my persistent ally was a wizard, so the two of us generally tore everything up. After my experience with this toon, I'd think that a battle cleric would be even easier (I only started transitioning to an actual caster role recently, around level 44).
I've soloed an R-HC- conjurer specialist wizard (goblin race, my own build) to level 30 getting all tags, with two exceptions, on my own. I find that having the extra two allies (familiar and boosted summons) can go a long way.
My shadowdancer (farux umbra build) made it pretty easily up to level 40, in terms of staying alive, but he didn't output a lot of damage so needed help for many tags. Getting the shd secret helped with that significantly.
Best of luck. If you are playing HC, and need a hand with any tags, let me (or any HC player) know.
- Niilo
