Hey HG! Was thinkin' about coming back to this server again and was hoping someone could help me with an idea for a class that uses a crossbow. I dunno, I think they're fun! I was gonna be a kobold, but as far as a class, I mainly want them to be effective with a crossbow, but if I could squeeze in some healing ability, that would be nice. I'd appreciate the help a lot! Since I'm pretty new, wouldn't mind a party or a new friend to adventure with.

What subraces you got can see about helping you figure out a good Gnomish Inventor, new quasiclass using Heavy X-Bow, otherwise I think some might still run around with Light X-Bow Rogues.

Thanks you two for the quick response! Gnomish inventor sounds pretty cool, but it's a shame I hafta be a gnome. I'ma gonna look at the rouge for a moment!

Rouge sound's kinda neat, but I'm not a fan of relying on someone else a good deal of the time... Would a Zen Archery with a Cleric using a crossbow be a good idea? Actually, another question! Has HG modified weapon of choice to include crossbows? I'm thinkin' no, but I'm desperate! Thanks!

WM is still limited to melee and excludes Unarmed. If your going Zen you could try a Ranger or maybe just a Fighter with a Monk splash might do well.

That sound's good! May I ask what bonuses the monk splash will provide? I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out! Thanks again Jimbo!

If you go Zen a Monk splash would give AC from WIS so long as you are wearing Robes.

Alright! I'll test a few things out now, hopefully I can pull something off. Thanks Jimbo!

Really?! That's a bummer to hear, kobra... But thanks for letting me know! Starting to think I should try another class and play around later, since this will be my first long term char. A kobold with nunchucks sounds rather quirky! Err... Thoughts on that? Is it possible to dual wield and have weapon of choice for such weapons?

Ehh, with a rogue, not so much. Rogues, for their opportunist/crippler strike, need to use small weapons. For a kobold, that means: Dagger, Kukri, Katar, Sai. (melee weapons anyways, for ranged weapons there's the light crossbow and sling)
If you want to have a kobold dual-wielding nunchucks, you'd probably actually be best off going with a bard/pal/monk 38/1/1, and dual wield a nunchuck and a small weapon off-hand. It won't have the best damage out there, low damage per hit, but it will have 9 attacks/round and should have solid defense and you'll fulfill bardsong/cursesong roles., If you'd like I could try and cook up a build for you, iron out the specifics and all.

Heheh! Thanks kobra! I actually forgot that kobolds had a bug that cause off-hands to sorta glitch into the left hand. Purely cosmetic, but it bothers me. ;D This is a pretty complicated procedure! Hmm... Maybe I'll just stick to one two-hander. Do tridents work in the game yet? I might just do a bunch of test chars until I'm comfy!

Actually, there's no bug. The reason I suggested not to dual wield nunchucks was because, since they're small and kobolds are small, then dual wielding them will result in a -4 AB penalty when wielded in the offhand. If you went chuck/dagger instead, that would be -2, though the offhand wouldn't have all the weapon foci bonuses. I suppose you could dual wield chucks, or even go with chucks and a torch, but I think the chucks/tinyweapon turns out the best.
If you want to go with a twohander kobold, I'd recommend a barbarian, so you can shapestrong rage a medium weapon and a shield. I can try and cook up a build for that as well.

I understand. I was talking about a problem with the kobold model that would trigger when dual wielding, you have to look pretty close to notice. I think I'm just a touch nit-picky, heh! Your idea sound's pretty interesting for the barbarian! Any idea's would be appreciate, but I don't wanna take up to much of your time. Thanks kobra!
