I would like to "clean up" the open subrace boards and standardize formatting. Our last subrace contest gave me many examples of excellent formatting to choose from. Balduvard, Xiayu, and Excruciator far exceeded my expectations for example but I feel that what they did goes over and above what is "needed" or reasonable for participation in the open subrace forums. The below build formatting by Laser Pointer I felt was both excellent and attainable by the majority of builders. highergroundpoa.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=openbuild&action=display&thread=21165I have not decided on the reward. I would like your ideas on a suitable reward before anything final is approved. The reward(s) should be 1.) composed of desirable items 2.) embody the idea of equivalent exchange (time/effort) 3.) reward should include items that encourage in game run formation and not just benefit the player directly I'd like to put together a standard "package" or several "packages". Original authors will be given first dibs on upgrading their formatting but you can volunteer to work on others builds so long as they don't want the reward themselves. You would not be changing anything in their build(s) other than the formatting.

Sorry Tyran, I've 4+1 builds in the open subrace section, and the 4 are imho good as they are and it would be way to much work for me to re-format them. The +1 (barb) needs some work to be suitable at all, also from content due to lasts updates. You can move that build elsewhere and I PM you if I ever find the time/in the mood for it. Oh, my Pariah could be outdated as well.

I must say I am surprised by all this (This is the first I have heard that there is a problem.) That type of Pariah can no longer be played as it was made. It was marked out of date to stop new players from mistakenly building it. So far I have not found a comparable build that can be made with an open subbie and thus it is not updated. (I am still working on re-building my BUR Pariah rather than turn it into a Barbarian or Sorc as many have done) In my opinion, new players using open subraces would be better off making a sorc as the sorc could channel, have more epics, and etc. Here are my issues: Why did you not PM me, and ask me my intentions for the build before you had a "problem" with it? Is my build really the only one you had a "problem" with? If so why? As far as the formatting, obviously what I find fun and think will make a player enjoy reading a build does not match with your tastes. That's OK. We all think differently. Perhaps future contests can have more than one judge. I have always received numerous posts and PMs about how much players enjoyed reading and making my builds. In summary: I am shocked that there was an "Issue"; as we all know, builds stale out due to server changes. In my many years here, I have not seen this type of "Problem" with a build. And frankly to have a DM request a "GHOST BUILDER" to step in and fix it? (Happily, I am not dead and am able to re-do the build once I find something I feel comfortable recommending to new players). I did not want to post something just to post something. If I would not recommend the build to a friend that''s new to the server then I don't post it. If you wanted a stoner pariah build made, then you could just have sent me a PM and asked. Perhaps this can all get handled in a different way if you PM me and explain what your issues are.

1.) I posted in your thread and you did not reply.
2.) You JUST won a second place contest prize on that build. It is not like it has been around for 2 years. When the changes were made (I warned you they would), you marked the build as defunct. I told you this would happen. UNACCEPTABLE. Do or do not. Maybe YOU should have PM'd me.
3.) You formatting is okay. However, if somebody is going to redo your build for you they need to use Laser Pointer's formatting. As for your standing in the contest. There has not been any problems in the past. The fact that others have better builds than yours says nothing about the quality of your own builds. Your build WAS good, those that placed above you in the contest were were slightly better. I'm sure those people get just as many nice pm's as you. I also get the same Pm's on my own builds, which means the open subrace project is working as intended.
You can quit the dramatic stuff. It does not belong in this thread. If you are willing to retool your build and post a caster pariah build, I won't need to reward somebody to fix your build for you. It doesn't matter that sorcerers are better at the moment or that many pariah players have reincarnated into barbarians. What does matter is that a basic caster pariah is displayed so that a new player who want to try this quazi class can get access to a basic pattern. End of story. Spell and class changes are in a state of flux. Today sorcerers are overpowered. Tomorrow Pariahs could be supreme again.

I want to make an optional reward for those that are interested. If one build gets done, the project will be a success.

Tyran, please consider the possibility that Bad is absolutely right here. If the consensus among his circle of vets is that Pariahs have been nerfed out of comparative utility, them why in gods name would you try to grease someone to post an open sub version for new players to play?

Because it is short sighted. There are have already been changes to pariahs to make them work within a small number of spells schools. This will continue to evolve but in the same direction (the need for spell pen and most spells in Trans). The worst thing that could happen is the new player when choosing to subrace upgrade/reincarnate may choose to instead make their Pariah a sorcerer or a barbarian. A year from now the non viability of Pariahs will likely be irrelevant.

I'm confused as to why you've singled out Bads build when there's many more out of date. It's obvious Bad put a lot of work into that build and may not have the time needed to fix it since the changes. I'm also disappointed you feel the need to threaten deletion of someones hard work if they don't continually update builds after every change.

Feel free to be disappointed and to keep that to yourself. If you feel the need to express that, you can PM me. This thread is not the place. I've already explained why it was singled out. It just won a major prize and I stated previously that he would have to update it once the nerf had gone through. There was no ambiguity in that. From the build post. If any of the other winners had hung a defunct sign on their builds shortly after the contest ended I would be just as livid. The builds in this forum need to be able to perform well in LL levels and up to the lower hells level of difficulty. With the current spell upgrades to Pariah spells a build to meet those requirements cannot be accomplished?

There's a lot of censorship going on in this thread. Can we have an idea of what is acceptable? Can we provide any criticism of anything? Should those thoughts be put in a different place? Or will those get deleted, too?
Thanks.

I want ideas on the rewards or general questions about this project. All off topic comments or expressions of "hurt" feelings can be taken elsewhere. Thanks
