What spells are worth having on a caster Bard? The schools I have are ESF in Evocation, Transmutation, Enchantment, & Necromancy and has LSF in Illusion. I currently plan to go for PSF+PSK in Illusion & Transmutation I would like any input on what spells to take and if I should change my Foci up any.

Don't forget that PSK gives you double the ticks for epics, too. I'm taking PSK Illusion more or less just for the double possums.
More ticks on HMR would be nice, too, and have you seen Cacophany in action?

i went PSK enchant, and iv got to say not having to keep track of HMR ticks is nice, but i only use it on last ness map or ely, so i do wonder if PSK in necro or trans would have been better for the ticks rather than the paragon spells
but cacophony is nice, the decent damage means you actually show up in loggers!! (but cacophony and spamming amplify doesn't match DPS builds ), also be cautious about KB when using it
for non epic/paragon advice: my bard is a caster with high defenses and i spend most of my time managing auras, curse + song, then spamming bestow curse, amplify, ice storm, shout, shatter stone and either taunt or persuade.
buff spells: displacement (EV if u don't have one of the bard armors), energy buffer, healing circle, lesser MB, endure elements, expeditious retreat, silver tongue and prot from alignment
other very nice spells are: break enchantment, improved heroism, mass cure serious wounds, mind fog, wail of doom, warcry, GMW, clang, keen, iron grasp, remove curse, know vulnerabilities and shades (for summon and other damage types that use illusion for DC)

dont forget: protectin from evil, remove curse, remove poison (though that would reach it´s full potential only with maxed spellfocus of the school) and remove desease (or get a rod from the demi shop if u are already)

What does Protection from Alignment grant exactly? It protects against the Death Knight special "turning" effect. I don't know of any other use for this spell.

Sounds like I can pass on the spell until I am ready and plan to do Abyss and actually since currently I splash 2 Pally levels I am not sure I will ever need it unless I drop 1 or more levels of Pally.

I don't know of any other use for this spell. iirc Protection from Alignment doesn't stop turning from paragon death knights. That was mentioned on a run so not sure if that is true or not. I didn't get a chance to test it out. Any one else with knowledge of that? If it doesn't work against paragon Death Knights does the higher level circle of protection against alignment work on paragon DIK's?

This could very well be true... I've been turned when I could have sworn I had PFA up. That might have been a paragon DK. Or maybe I just somehow lost PFA.

Paladin levels don't stop turning.

iirc, DKs turn and fear. I don't believe paragon level makes any difference.
2 pal, wis arti, or true fear imm protects from fear. MCOP, PFE, and maybe some other stuff protect from turning. Both have largely the same effect and you would need to mouse-over the icon to see exactly how you were affected.

Even after all this time I still can't keep up with all the shorthand so what is MCOP and PFE?

I realized it shortly after since the spell names are Protection From Alignment and Magic Circle Against Alignment it made me slow to realize it.
