What's with this new fangled forum thingy??? I was just getting used to the old one and then they go get some darn fool idea and change everything around on me.
I tell ya, kids these days....

My biggest complaint is this "Stories From Around The Web" thing on the bottom. Makes me feel like I'm on some crappy search engine homepage trying to get me to go click about the thing I don't care about, or the other thing I don't care about, or that other thing that I didn't even know anyone cared about.
I'm not sure if this is even as much ad-related; normally I would say, well, it's free forums, so I have to deal with some ads
This does not seem to be an ad though and we have ads anyway
Well, maybe I can figure out a way to turn it off.

Several of the old Forum theme look bad with the new layout. Dragon (Default) is probably the worst.

I like some things about it.
I just hate the trend of everything we do online now must be designed to give the look and feel of a social media site. I don't care about the Best New Way To Color Your Hair, I don't care what LeBron James is doing in the locker room, or what the top 20 Rolling Stones Songs Ever are according so some hip pollster.
Jeez, that's what I'm trying to get AWAY from by playing a 10 year old game with a bunch of old farts.

I can't figure out how to log in. When I click "login" at the top, it says I am logged in as Buddhamind, but I can only access this forum as a guest. I had to create a new account to ask for help. Help?

I don't see any problem with your first account - you still have full privileges, so far as I can tell. Please try to login again and see what happens. If you're still being treated as a guest, please try to provide as much detail about what happens as possible.
Thanks, Funky

Sounds like an issue with the new universal proboards account thingy.
Did you try logging out, logging back into the proboards prompt with your "new" proboards account?

I just had to relog after my browser crashed, and was given the option as logging in with the FormerAdmin account, this account, and as a guest. I think Chir's advice is sound - make sure you aren't picking the guest option accidentally.

When I click log in, I am only given the Guest option, plus the new "buddhamindtoo" account that I created. My old account "buddhamind" is not available, and it says the username is already taken when I try to create a new account by that name. Here is a screenshot of what I see.

Nevermind I figured it out. I had to "link another forum account" in order to access my existing account.

Sorry, that is actually what I was trying to get at with my earlier post (had the same issue when I first hit the forums after the upgrade). However after Funky's post, I figured maybe *that* was the issue (logging in as guest instead), so I figured I'd hedge my bets and try to sound wise by pretending THAT's what I meant originally and stay quiet

I wouldn't say I hate it....it'll just take some getting used to.
