** Disclaimer **
All the usual disclaimers apply. This is just an idea I had at lunch and I'm posting with zero expectations and mostly to get it out of my head. It's probably half-baked and not worthy of anything more than a head nod and some chortling in the background. I have searched the forums for this idea already, although not extensively and I apologize if I am wasting your time with this.
The user-case/problem as I see it:
(this is slightly dramatized fiction):
I'm missing an item, although I think I know I've put it in a chest. I can't remember the name, except that it has "FoM" in the name. I named it for the fine level 45 freedom of movement aug on it. The problem is that I have 3 accounts and many many (perhaps many more) chests to look through.
I've spent the better part of the day in the bank trying things like "!bc check_this_loot", "!bc check_later", "goodloot", "goodloot01", "rings", "rings01", "urrings01", "urrigns01", ..., "urrings93", "check_this_loot", "rings"
The process is not terrible, but I forget where I've checked, and I re-check chests I've checked before in the same way I think many of you have checked and rechecked chests before. Clearly I could use a spreadsheet and the ability to check each of the bank chests off one at a time.
Now I know what you're thinking... I *could* just pull a "!bc list", browse to my neverwinter nights installation directory, locate the logs directory, open up the latest "nwclientLog1.txt" file in my favorite text editor and clip the list out of the log, place it in a spreadsheet, and then I'd have a spreadsheet to check it off while using ctl-enter to hop in and out of full screen game mode. Then I could switch to my other two accounts and repeat the process. If my ring is in a chest, I'll probably find it with this method.
One potential solution:
What if, however, there was a "better" way?
For example:
!bc search "fom"
With a return list of something that looked like:
rings01 -> L45 FoM Mord Ring
urrings03 -> L45 FoM Breach Ring
keys37 -> fomian key
I'd guess it'd have to be capped at some number of results and probably have a cool-down timer, all of which would be work to be done. This is just a "wish list" type thing for me.
I know it's not an item, but it could be attached to an item if someone REALLY wanted to go that far.
I'm out of time, but I think you get the idea.
Cheers,
Madzapper
