Been toying with a ranged divine tank and came up with a pally that kinda sorta works (on paper). Not gonna post the whole build, but it's Pal-46/M-10/F-4. At level 60 AC is 133 (w/girding), AB is 97 and it gets +49 damage from weapon specialization, divine might and pally spells. At double demi, AC goes up to 142 (w/girding) and damage bonus gets up around +60 (assuming legendary weapon specialization).
The flip side is that you can't buff x-bow bolts (or arrows, for that matter), which limits damage output. I was also wondering about enchantment? Meaning: x-bows usually have an attack bonus, but no enchantment. Does that mean a mob with +1/50- would soak the first 50 points of damage?

Enchantment bonus only has additional damage associated with it in addition to being able to break soak.

I think you can only specialize in melee weapons not ranged ones.

Damage is still lower than Xbow rogue (with divine power for 2 more attacks and 30d6 sneak attacks), no? Defense-wise it's much better. What reminds me.. I didn't toy with the AA I thought a long time ago.. Penetrating arrows was the name i think. (tough it's probably outclassed by your build) ofc, I deleted it wasn't working out so well without defenses and lousy ranged weapon dps. I think you can only specialize in melee weapons not ranged ones. Works on ranged weapons... Look at the Divine slinger

I kind of thought as much. I think ranged capability is quite underestimated on this server, hence why I think this build may have potential.

All ranged attacks lacks the weapon buffage. Unbuffed ranged attacks looks decent to say the least on paper. But when you add something like 12d12 or even 17-21d12 on some rare specific occasions on weapon damage from buffs, that ranged ability, which has solid physical damage, suddenly falls waaaaaaay behind. In hells that is atleast. In abyss resists absorbs fair bit of elementals that are widely spread out, but melee weapon is still more damage. Not to mention, by using melee, you're more likely to be in the front as you should be to take the beating.

Does holy sword breach apply on ranged weaps?

There is no cap on Divine Might on HG, is there in vanilla NWN?, and Holy Sword doesn't grant the normal bonuses ranged but does add a fun property to ranged but the unlimited ammo bolts cause the added properties to get removed due to how they function I would guess.

Instead of irresistable damage capped at +20, it's now 1.5x Cha modifier with no cap and it's integrated into your total bonus damage (say, from str). Unfortunately, holy sword breach does not apply on ranged weapons . That would have made this build extremely viable.

What about a slinger with Fighter 4 (for spec) and Pally 1? Divine Power grants the extra attacks
BTW how much Charisma did you manage to put it?
