Okay...I use disentegrate a lot on my sorcerer and pariah.
Figured Detonate is basically like disentegrate, but higher level (3 higher dc) and does a bit of damage. So I say "awesome, maybe a BFM can actually insta kill some stuff!".
BUT....
First you have to touch stuff. And that requires getting through their conceal. It's pretty ridiculous to have to run up to a monster and touch it (usually drawing an attack of opportunity) and hopefully get through their conceal, vs. standing 50 yards away and shooting a green beam that doesn't miss. Seriously...have you ever tried to land a touch attack on a raksasha? Miss, miss, miss, miss, hit! but it makes it saves...doh!
PLEASE remove the touch portion of this spell. Make it auto hit, at short range.

From what i recall, it ignores conceal, as it's a pseudo touch attack. You just have to get around the DC for the touch itself (base AC, dex mod and dodge).

Yes!? Edited: Never mind. Hellgate arena says: concealment check with detonate.

Yes!? Edited: Never mind. Hellgate arena says: concealment check with detonate. omg and you played bfm for ages, nub I agree it's quite a harsh penality anyway, single target, close range, level 9 spell causing huge aoe dmg when detonating kb things, the conceal check is lil sad. Btw, werecheater is wrong in that a touch attack respects deflection ac as well

In fact you forgot deflection ac in the first reply, and I replied accordingly.

Bump.
You still need to get through concealment to land a Detonate. I dont know whether it is working as intended. If it's not, could we fix it please?

It's not really a question of intent, but of whether it should change. Given that it's instakill for a damage class, I don't have a huge problem with a conceal check on it, since touch attacks are pretty easy to make, otherwise. Thoughts welcome, but this doesn't seem like a high priority to me, at least at first blush.

The reason I maximise listen on my palemaster and bard builds is to overcome conceal on touch attacks. Not a new thing that touch attacks can be missed due to conceal.

Come to think of it, more skill/spell power synergies like listen here, lore, etc, are probably a decent, controlled way to increase Wizard power (vs Sorc), if desired. Wizards have a much lower skill point "cost", so adding a few more synergies could introduce some interesting build decisions for Sorcs.

I seem to recall a discussion on Listen on Caster's and the result I thought was that it didn't effect anything but I could be mistaken on touch attacks as I do recall them being brought up.

It doesn't work for orbs, but it does for real touch attacks.
