Hello Higher Ground.. So, I've been playing around a bit mostly sorcerer and wizard type builds, unfortunately most often when there's few people online. The sorcerer and wizard type builds are fun but I'm still miss something interesting to try that'll help me do some soloing in different ways. I've been thinking of an archer like a monk/wiz/aa kinda thing, but then every time I ask for advice in party with other players, the general feedbacks I get is that it's more frustrating due to damage types later down the line (true? not?) - don't have experience past upper LL areas, so maybe wrong but I have noticed that damage types become very crucial to the casters. And I hear of healing mobs for some damage types in the upper echelon areas... A build I noticed a while back (an old one to be sure), talked about using wizard buffs and AA in combination to make a casting, buffing archer. This intrigues me: if I can use archery and spells, at least I have a fallback for when I don't have the damage type on arrows, and when spells are not good (like SR or immunities) I'll have a means to approach without spending all the miniscule lvl9 slots on mords. So, two questions: 1) Are these types of builds feasible without access to BUR, UR, or even Secret races? I mean, I have a UR book that would be ideal but I'm not into spending another three months rebuilding (and I don't have another book to blow on reinc). 2) If 1) is yes, then would Sorcerer not be better? Sure there's less spells but on the flipside I imagine you aren't going to need many if your primary is buff? NB: My first post. Please excuse the grammar mistakes, English isn't my first language

Arcane archer with CC wiz is a fun build, lets you play with some (epic) spells while ninja shooting arrows, but it is incredibly ineffective in today gameplay, mostly because of terribly low bow damage, and every respectable offensive spell you're going to cast lacks enough dc/sp.
Sorc doesn't give you any big advantage over wiz on such build and requires you to invest in cha rather than the more useful int (and you need to max dex, and put points into wis/con already, and the only way to get slight more dmg is raise str to use mighty bows... it's a very stat tight build)

Perhaps a Wizard-CC staffy would be a better option? Technically, you only need 1 level of WM, which would help with your spell DCs, and you still have tensor's and a great concealment if you need to get your hands dirty.
Unfortunately, you'd have to give up a lot of STR to keep your INT high, so your AB would probably suck. Still, you should be able to fill an arcane caster's role.
Bane Knight with Brutal Throw and Throwing Axe/Dart might be doable also, but with a maximum of only 48 Sor levels, you'd probably be limited to grabbies and epics for offensive spells.

Requirements
Must have 15 levels of Wizard and Weapon Focus: Quarterstaff before level 21.
Benefits Staffmaster Spells Spell DCs for all spells are equal to 10 + spell level + (STR modifier x 9/10). For most spells, casterlevels and Spell Penetration are equal to Wizard level + (Weaponmaster level/3). For certain spells, casterlevel = Wizard level + Weaponmaster level
notice that as a staffy u use str for casting also u want at min 3 wm levels to git full benefit of tensors
Tensers Transformation - No longer polymorphs the caster. - At CL20, grants +((CL - 20) / 2) AB and +((CL - 20) / 2) Natural AC. - Grants +CLd6 temporary HP, plus 12 temporary HP per CL above 40, reaching 60d6+240 at CL60. - Grants +(CL / 4) Str, Dex, and Con, to a maximum of +12. - Grants additional attacks at CL45 and CL55. - At CL41 (or if the caster is a Staffmaster), increases Legendary BAB to that of a fighter if the caster has at least three levels in 1/1 BAB classes.

I have a Wizard CC Staffmaster build but unfortunately AB is lacking becuase the lack of WM levels for the WM AB bonus so it is mostly just a poor SM w/ epics and none of the SM spells have any offensive power. Wizard CC Staffmaster scroll down to the 2ns post for Wizard CCHonestly if you want something that does combat and casts spells I think a Shifter or a Bane Knight are your best bets or to a lesser extent a BFM/DSM as most your spells are Evo which will do at least half damage even with a low DC. The Divine Slinger is sort of there but not really and Warchanter's never see to cast any of the few offensive spells they have but might be an option. The Gnomish Inventor is currently a rather broken option does to issues with how it functions on top of how it preforms but has potential to be what you are looking for.
