Bard or druid.
Why?
Because they're fun and make groups MUCH stronger and runs go more smoothly. We cannot get enough bards or druids!
Cheers.

Thank you.
I do love bards, and I plan to make one, as soon as I can read my Atomie book. 24 levels to go, lol.
I like druids as well, if I can find an avariel elf book.
About the palemaster, I not sure I would enjoy the lich appearance. However if it is dynamic, I can cover it up, and craft a nice robe too.
I may try one, if I can find a good subrace to use.

A great toon for a beginner caster would have to be a blood fire mage (BFM). The only point they get a bit stuck is until you reach lvl 20 and qualify to become a BFM. Though it isn't too bad, as you can invis yourself and use summons to fight for you. The main elements you will deal as a BFM are mostly fire with some pos and div damage. They struggle a bit underwater but meteors can pretty much get you through. Splash a level of paladin at lvl 40 to bump up your saves real nice and take auto still I-III feats and make use of plate. Evocation is their main focus, spell pen feats are also a must leaving another school to focus in (I'd highly recommend illusion for ghostly visage) and you can also read a spell tome from ssithrak (transmutation is usually chosen for the epic wall)
Btw it is a sorcerer based build so no need to swap spells around, and being sorcerer, they get 50% bonus spell slots when equipped with items that grant bonus slots (so a helm with 4 lvl 9 slots will grant 6 slots)
The normal BFM build is usually 29 sorcerer 10 red dragon disciple and 1 paladin with autostill feats, evocation focus, great cha feats and the remainder feats usually being spell schools of their taste, but most would recommend ill and trans.
Overall, it is a good solo toon that can get through all legendary levels easily, perhaps aside from ssithrak.

I am thinking to try a palemaster with atomie subrace, since it would give me water breathing, and walking on quicksand. However I am not sure if the lich appearance would cover the butterfly wings. It is hard to look evil with a set of butterfly wings, lol. Any other wings would be fine, but there are not to many subraces with an intelligence bonus, and levitation or walking on quicksand.

Bur race- Genie int +6 , +2 con/dex. strider (walks on quicksand/aka lev) . . . . - sadly though no wings. and you have to get to 60 to use the book for this race .

The Lich appearance change overwrites visible wings, tails, etc although you'll still have levitation.
Another cool thing about PMs is the unlimited uses of deathless master touch (remember to max Listen skill to optimise this) so even when you run out of spells you can keep giving non death immune mobs the touch of the lurgy.

How is the AB of such attack calculated? Isn't it STR based and abysmal for INT based PMs?

That's a very good question but it hits often enough to be worth doing as it has a decent dc, I suspect it ignores armour (and possibly other factors) as its a touch attack like harm for clerics.
