Althogh you have some of they better shapes already advailable there are still some benefits to progressing further as a shifter.
(epic shifter forms are recieved as feats, like epic spells)
1)At lvl 21 you recieve your first epic feat so why not make it a good one like "undead shape"
this bonus shape includes a Vampire, a Specter, and a Risen Lord. each of these shapes arnt really powerful but have some great abilities.
-Vampires can use Dominate Gaze to gain temporary control over there opponets
-Specters can cast Invisability unlimited times a day, enabling them to walk through most places with ease
-Risen Lords have one of the best abilities shifters get which is 50% Slashing Reduction. They also reiceve whirl wind attack and beasue they use a weapon, any weapon you use out of shape gives its ability to risen's lord scythe
2) with the exception of undead shape all other bonus shifter forms require a good amount of wisdom, luckly shifters recieve a bonus feat which is used to get either epic wisdom or another form every 3 levels.
including the regular stat increase every four levels you can get all four shapes and +14 wisdom in your epic levels (because the last stat increae is from lvl 40) you can only get dragon shape if you start with atleast 12 wisdom at lvl 1)
3)Although i cannot remember the exact levels as you progress in shifter levels your previous 5 forms begin to change form limited to unlimited uses a day ending a Greater W ildshape IV at lvl 19
4) The next shape you probley get is Outsider shape which requires a wisdom value of 25(wisdom values needed are unbuffed). The three shapes you get are Azer Chieftan, Death Slaad, and Rakshasa.
-the Azer Chieftan is a pretty much pointless form and gives nothing really good unlike the other two.
-the Death Slaad special ability "Chaos Spittle" is one of the few attacks that work well on high AC enemies, especially Firebrands and Dismembered arm, hurting them for about around 30 points of magical damage
-the Rakashasa is good for combating mages because it is immune to all lvl8 and below spells. it also uses a weapon and can cast unlimted " Dispel Magic", "Ice Storm", and "Melf's Acid Breath" spells
5) iIdont know the special powers of the next class you'll get if you continue on as a shifer "Construct Shape"(wisdom of 27 required) because they really arn't that stong either offensively or defensively. maybe the are better if good equipment was hard to come by, like in the single player game. Anyways the forms are:
-Iron golem, pretty pointless but looks nice
-Stone golem, pointless but looks nice too, also can use a poison breath attack which isnt all that good
-Demonflesh Golem, weak and hideous, a bad combonation
the only reason to have this is if you want the whole collection
6) The only form not requiring an epic shifter is Dragon Shape (Wisdom of 30 and either "Greater Wildshape IV" or "Wildshape 6x/Day" ). You get the following 3 Ancient Dragon types from this feat
-Red: the strongest of the dragons with a breath attack that does a 20D12 fire breath attack if your a ultimate Shifter
-Blue: a bit weaker than red but not by much and has a bit more AC. does a lightning breath attach that does a bit less than the red
-Black: same as blue but does sonic damage insted of lightning
* Dragon Shape is the only form that doesnt carry over haste but still has over 50 points of AC by the time you get this form it is pretty much only usful for Wall Warping. in the origonal NWN game it would be lethal, but here in PoA it's just a push over.
8) Another good thing about being a high levels shifter with is that your forms get powered up too (including weapons).
