My suggestion to make the Ego item a gamble, was a bit too harsh, perhaps. A bit too much HC, yeah. When the possible Ego for a rogue is made a bit more like the polymathy thing, so it could also rotate say every reset, it would be better and more useful. It all depends on what options there are on. The ones I suggested might seem not very valuable, and some may not be appropriate, but when combined, they could make a fun and acceptable Ego item, I think. Of course using poison is for an Assassin and a BG, but an (evil?) rogue, with this item, could use it, if he wanted, that reset. But then, that "day", he would not be able to use one extended timestop per rest. Or he would not be able to hop into the Maze just like that, or scribe some scrolls, or boost his sneaks. This way a rogue had to think well about how, where and when to use it. This way we could implement some more suggestions, that all seem a bit weak for an Ego, but together, they are, well-used, useful enough. And, I still think, do suit this class, make him more flex, even deeper in this - great - server.
So if we could agree about such a rotating "polymathy" thing, we could start working out suggestions. Not one of those suggestions needs to be the one, since we offer the rogue player the possibility to choose what he thinks his rogue suits best at that moment.
