Well it's mostly 1 epic feat - Chaladins (now this is a good nickname) have little issues at lowbie feats, no? Brilliant! Then roll with either Luck of Heroes, Strong Soul, Slippery Soul or Dauntless This would be interesting - not sure if op or not, but since the feats available to tank builds are limited by having to go for either LSA:Disc, LSA:Tumble or STRONGER SAVE FEATS! Not sure if this would be OP to grant more of these choices to a tank build, bypassing the level 1 limitation. Interesting nonetheless - don't you think it might be a tad op though? Edit: not for the feat starved builds, or CHA based builds, but then again Fighters and co. could probably use this type of buff... Not sure

My suspicion would that acquiring level 1 feats through an item would be unbalancing. Seems like it would open up a lot of different build options that wouldn't previously be available.

Just make the book grant light reflex/ iron will/ great fort instead.
Or similar to the arti amulet make it grant +2 to a chosen save.

I was mostly just concurring. I figured "ditto" probably wouldn't passed the constructive criticism benchmark.

Seems like it would open up a lot of different build options that wouldn't previously be available. I like to think that opening up build options is a good thing in general, as long as the new options aren't excessively powerful. IMO, 'tank with better saves' is reasonable.

Honest question- does brutal throw really work on HG? No idea and honestly I have never tried it: there is always something more tempting, even if you have pure fighter with their 11 bonus pre-epic feats. I just included that in the OP for the sake of completeness.

Brutal Throw does work... unless you mean't is it worth anything? Or something along those lines. Condude had an axe throwing CS ranger, it worked, to an extent. Mirror from what i said, hows about the book granting +2 to one of the given saves?

-Alternative to Wondrous Tome of Ancient Lore
A boost for some non-spell casters.

Honest question- does brutal throw really work on HG? I have a level 67 HC Brutal throw ranger (Demi x1 IIRC). It's actually pretty good. You can CS nasties on the casters while tanking PFs etc. Quite versatile. Plus the damage boost from strength means that the damage output isn't too bad.

Maybe I'm missing something... but Mighty caps at a relatively low number (Like +16?) for ALL range weapons. One of the reasons why ranged toons are so crippled. In other words, their damage is very sub-par.

I have never tried a ranged weapon on HG or any other high-magic server, but since Darts/Throwing Axes (not Shurikens for some reason!) both get 'automatic mighty' in NWN, I always assumed that they would use STR mod directly, uncapped. Having said that, I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was indeed a hidden +16 cap (or some other number) on even throwing weapons.

Bows are a whole different can of worms.

Condude is correct that Dart, Throwing Axe, and Shuriken have unlimited Mighty.
Ranged weapons with launchers have a maximum Mighty +20 (currently the best items on the mod that I can think of off the top of my head have +16, but more will certainly be added in the future). If it were actually necessary, we could certainly hack around the Mighty +20 limitation with an engine hack.
