Just a thought, probably reasons for why not. But is it possible to have creatures spawn with random loot and allow the players to pickpocket them? Items that would otherwise not be dropped or something?

Yes, that is possible, though right now it's limited to heals, which are relevant to combat. I'm not sure we want people trying to pp each critter prior to it being killed. Rogues would see even less combat, no?

Well PP is generally something Rogues do while fighting, not to mention it means other tanks could take it, ones with bard/sd/sin/rogue levels too.
Just an idea, could be something that is required to get certain types of items from mobs too. Like consumables of some sort maybe.

For consumables and misc items, sure. For actual burs and xrs? Rather not, would be annoying for the reasons Funky mentioned, as well as I would really hate feeling forced into pickpocket for gear on.. pretty much all tanks. It would either be irrelevant or too important I think - hard balance to find.

Rogues would see even less combat, no? Funky Matt and I killed Xulrae a few hours ago and my rogue managed to pickpocket Xulrae's Key. That aside, PP could be expanded to not only healing potions, but other potions too. They are plentiful, and some of them are useful. Speaking of GS potions, mass rez potions, various potions from Rona or Ely, even some potions that are crafted from Feywild or Elemental Planes materials and so on. As for rogues seeing less combat, I cannot imagine what party could get upset at seeing MORE LOOT at the cost of one character's slightly worse combat numbers...

You'd have people getting upset that others killed the mobs before they had a chance to pp them all and others getting upset that they had to stand there not casting insta kill spells cause the rogue wasn't done pping yet...seems like it would get old fast.
Now if we starting giving mobs stuff like moderately escapable forcecages and breach balls that they would use fairly quickly it could spice things up :-) ....likely making those mobs a priority to kill or pp.

No. Also looting a monster wield it's carried gear. This "disappearing loot when a creature dies" is something I found infuriating in Final Fantasy.
Incidentally it would make sense to disarm by stealing. (maybe stealing arrows?)
