I want to use undead forms on my shifter. I really do. Ability-wise, they're pretty much on par with Outsider shapes. Where they aren't on par is with vulnerabilities.
Outsider: (Azer, Slaad, Leonal Hells Str checks, Modron Dex checks)
Azer Chieftan: 100% Fire, -50% Cold
Rakshasa: -
Death Slaad Lord: -
Leonal: -
Modron: -
Construct: (Hells Str Checks)
Stone Golem: -50% Acid
Demonflesh Golem: 100% Fire, -50% Cold
Iron Golem: 100% Elec, -50% Fire
Crystal Golem: 100% Fire, -50% Sonic
Marut: 100% Elec, -50% Cold
Undead: (Risen Lord, Spectre, Vampire Hells Str checks)
Risen Lord: 100% Neg, -50% Pos
Spectre: 100% Neg, -25% Div, -25% Pos
Vampire: 100% Neg, -50% Pos
Baelnorn: 100% Pos, -50% Neg
Banshee: 100% Neg, -50% Pos
Negative immunity is the easiest to cover immunity in the mod. You can get 100% negative immunity from a potion in Rips. Alternatively, you can farm shadow pots in pre-immo areas. It's a weak bonus.
In exchange, you get exotic vulnerabilities, some of the hardest vulnerabilities to cover. The average player isn't going to be able to cover them with anything but rings. And for that, you'll need 2 to cover a 50% deficit. Compare that to Constructs where a 50% elemental vulnerability can be covered with a single rare ring that will cover another element besides. Alternatively, with randomization, the mod is awash in elemental immunity gear. I have a rare (not even UR) shield that covers 57% Cold, 37% Elec. I have yet to see exotic immunity added by any randomization. Outsider doesn't even get vulnerabilities outside of Azer.
And this for abilities that are at best only on par with Construct and Outsider. Perhaps that's why no serious shifter player is using Undead forms.
So I suggest either the immunity/vulnerabilities on Undead be removed entirely, or alternatively be replaced with easier to cover elemental vulnerabilities. For instance, it would seem to me to be just as logical for Vampires to be vulnerable to fire as they would be to pos damage. That would give the Undead forms a fighting chance to be considered.
