Recovering old account and characters

First let me say THANK YOU! I played higher ground for years back in 2005.
I totally geeked out, right now. You don't even know.
I played it so much it probably ruined my relationship at the time - which was for the best because I am now with an incredible person.
I recent got the GOG version and used my old CD keys to make the game work and get on your server, but none of my characters were there.
I am trying to recover that account and I am told that it is possible.
I have my old CD keys, but I am not sure that my username is right since it has been 10 years since I last logged in to Higher Ground.
Can you help me get my old characters back?
