Why construct as a FE especially as most of them are crit immune so the x4 won't matter?

Seems like a pretty expensive trade to make over the FTR one - on quick glance anyway.
For +1 ab and 1x modifier over 18 damage you pay:
- 4 pre-epic feats (so... gwf/something, iron will?, divine might, divine shield - freeing up at least two Epic/LL feats)
- one fighter bonus feat (since other one goes to epic weapon spec, otherwise this would be 2 - thus letting you take Armor Skin)
- one BG epic bonus feat that you'd get at bg 25
- 3% off the infliction cap
- 3 CL but that's probably pretty irrelevant as long as CL stays above 51? not sure, never made a Lash.

+ "save" one LL feat and one PL feat that allows you to get more adaptivity or disarming prowess or Paragon Balance.
Ftr one pays for 18 damage over x1 and +1 ab: 1 LL feat and 1 PL feat, but since you just moved divine might up to LLs that'd be the BG 25; so.. Basically just Paragon Balance is the missing limb, and you get a bonus feat for your troubles.. Though it might be worth it to forego it if there's no use for the 2nd bonus feat and just go 12/27/1 to get 1 more infliction cap and CL.
Granted, the pre-epic feats aren't very important since your saves are pretty great and you get so many pre-epic feats from Loviatars for some reason.. and the Alertness feat is tilting. Also, if you consider Epic Will over Armor Skin then the saves are probably pretty important. On that note, I'd take armor skin every day tbh.
-- Why WM 5 instead of WM7? It's still a decent threatrange boost even if overlaps a bit with OC - you lose 2% off your infliction cap and a BG bonus feat, but you could drop GSTR by 2 and fit in ESF:Hide or both of the Armor Skin + Epic Will.. I guess that's a pretty expensive tradeoff to make for a bit more threat range, but if that's the intention of the build might be worth considering.
Seems cool, but kinda downgrade from the FTR one :/ though seeing the bigger crits would probably make it more fun to play, in which case could just go all the way to WM7 to maximize that part.

i always assumed alertness was cuz (naturally) this is yet another subrace seemingly designed specifically for some forumbuild™, in this case the hs splash lash.
or could be just cuz reasons.
anyway, it's a fun idea. it's such a shame to lose the ws tree when the free ws->ftrsplash is so dank, but then again, building around tradeoffs w/ the 3-class max is what makes it interesting in the first place.
should run it for a while and compare logs of wm5 vs wm 7 vs ftr builds.

Ranger has to have base 11 wisdom at level 1, you have 8.
Your ability scores do not make sense. +14 str, +6 dex, +2 int, +2 cha = 24. Assuming 2 is from strength artifact, still have 2 to many points spent.

if only loviatars got ews whip it would actually be a solid improvement over half-guard, too many tank xr races just cant compete with half-guard EWS whip from Loviatars seems a tad over the top - enabling FTR splash power without that splash, taking that one out of the equation entirely from the building puzzle. Prefer them getting something like Armor Skin, or the whip infliction get a more substantial increase per hit than 1% (if that part of the sub works?). In theory if the whole flurry hits getting 5-6 attacks in to get the capped out infliction in one flurry thanks to ~~5% more infliction per flurry instead of one flurry and one attack is great, but taking into consideration mob concealment you'll be hitting at least two flurries anyway making that part of the sub less interesting - and since HG mob clearing revolves more around removing specific targets in one flurry (caster, crit it begone) or everyone hitting the same beefy target until it dies, or everyone piling on a chokepoint going oen by one, or casters AOE clearing... the Lash infliction spread speed is perhaps less relevant. Half-Guardinal is too good only for classes that don't have high requirements for stats in the first place, due to getting a *LOT* of freebies while sporting T1 BAB and getting everything else sugarcoated on top AND Evasion/FTS being very powerful in Limbo. But yeah, an unfortunate amount of XR races suffer from being handcrafted to enable shitty builds in a bad way - too many irrelevant/pigeonholing pre-epic feats across the board instead of epic feats / pure stats and many void of special benefits (like FTS immunity, evasion, levitation, and so forth). This is made worse by them being tied down to a specific base race. There are far worse offenders than Loviatars though - like Half-Dogai - but not gonna go into that further. It's still a good sub though, and there are other sources of FTS immunity other than vestige boots.. And evasion if you really like it. |
