Bindings of the Eternal Minstrel - Bard armour
When you use Bard Song, also Curse targets in a Colossal radius (new special + chorus special on top).
While wearing, Displacement grants EV concealment [standard bard armor property]
Light armor - BAC: 2
AC: 18 (17?)
Bard slot 1 x5
Bard slot 2 x5
Bard slot 3 x5
Bard slot 4 x4
Bard slot 5 x4
Bard slot 6 x4
Bard slot 7 x3 [3 more than existing non-randomized bard armours - currently to extend 6s or empower 5s we need randomized slot items]
Arcane Spell Failure: -20%
Damage immunity: Bludgeoning 20%
Damage immunity: Piercing 20%
Damage immunity: Slashing 20%
Haste
Freedom
Enhancement bonus: Charisma +16
Enhancement bonus: Constitution +16
Enhancement bonus: Dexterity +16
Damage Immunity: to one Esoteric type prevalent in Mechanus/EE areas +10%
Damage Resistance: to the Esoteric Resist that is the same as the above immunity, 20/-
Immunity: Mind Affecting Spells
Immunity: Knockdown
Immunity: Fear
Immunity: Silence (fluff, unnecessary and not very strong tbh they have hmr epic anyway - just a silent minstrel sounds sad, a paragon one should be above such demeaning states)
Skill bonus: Perform +25
Skill bonus: Parry +25
Skill bonus: Persuade +15
Skill Bonus: Pickpocket +20
Saving Throws: Universal +8
Saving Throw Bonus: Death +25
Changes from upon porting from the other thread:
- Re-Added Esoteric defenses that I initially removed from the item
- Added Pickpocket +25
- Added Universal Saving Throws +8
- Nerfed spell slots gained slightly
- Removed GV Special: either it is too strong if it's like a minimiracle on demand, or if it respects SR and Saves then it would be useless. As such, replaced it by integrating the Chorus special onto this item.
Weaknesses:
- No DRs, but old armors didn't have either. It is a solid upgrade from the old bard armours, basically a direct upgrade from Chorus of the Damned to paragon tier.
Strengths:
- 1-3 ac more than Chorus depending on if 17 or 18 ac is implemented and how high bard dex is and what shield is used. (bac 1 +16 vs bac 2+17/18)
- tier 7 Slots
- Somewhat upped stats across the board
- New special which allows you to save one slot on bar (never need both song and curse) - and using Song to buff party also Curses enemies, and using Curse also buffs party if they flopped and died like they usually do cuz they SUCK and you need to do all the carrying! BARD POWER! BOW BEFORE ME YOU GOONS
Notes:
---the Chorus special for Curse radius replicated here, it is way too fun to be skipped out on honestly, feels bad to stop using it I don't want to imagine life after it. It should probably stay as something all bards have after they have won Abyss, including in this armor.
Other special options I considered:
---Wail of Doom has +2 increased SP, ESF:Persuade and ESF:Pick Pocket would be solid additions to the item if something else gets taken out, but cost-benefit analysis lead me to this option.
---Caster bard option: +1 SP to all spells and Empower or Maximize one of the offensive spells that Bards have automatically
-----*I did not go this route because the offensive spell selection of a Caster bard is really disappointing. Ice Storm, Shatter, Dirge, Mind Fog and some unreliable CCs? They are weak and boring, and I would not advocate going that way unless significant changes are made to their spell selection. Low spell levels, low spell count and too much overlap on them, too many good epics and defensive qualities to pass on; epics reward being in the middle of the action, persuade range requires semi-close quarters, epic juggling / pickpocketing / supportive actions like pickup, rezzing, remove disease/curse/dispel etc are already enough without you being forced to have caster stats and be less likely to succeed in these supportive tasks in the thick of things (and dying).
Potential other ideas for a Bard armor: a pure caster bard option that boosts their SP and spell casting in better ways than this one, but I don't see it.
