Got this when I tried to log in this AM. Is ARF finally dead or do we just have a SNAFU? Edit: DNS is resolving HGWEB.ORG, but I am not getting a ping. Don't know if ICMP is turned off, so not sure if that is telling.

Asking around. Networking is not my thing. Please bump if someone else hasn't responded by tomorrow.
Thanks, Funky

That's because, by default, it points to an incorrect load point for 1.69 and CEP.
It has been several years for me, but you can change the URLs to point to valid download locations. Once you get that sorted, it works just fine.

Am curious, other than the doing a fresh install of the game, what files are being updated to need ARF at all ??

ARF does a check on the CEP, and updates of the server specific files.
As for what started the thread, there is a file that it pulls down that provides server status.

I am betting my install is 10 years old by now .. what recent server related files have even been created in that time ? Linux user here not use ARF .. I dont think I have even looked for updated files in ages ... who is making such files .. other than the actual server updates are there player files that coincide ??

Does the red mist in the Docks if your files were not up to date still occur, or did all of those changes go server side only?

I decided to poke around and see what I could find. HG wiki installation guide show CEP packs and HG enhanced pack..
Sabregirls site link has only cep_2.3
the of link to neverwintervault.org show cep_2.3 and cep_2.4a
past the download links on that page is a section
following that link I find
That covers the base cep trail. Now back to the HG wiki installation page the final item is the HG enhanced content. I found a copy I downloaded almost exactly a year ago when I was helping a windows uses get started. All the files contained within the archive are the same name. doing a diff against the files shows 3 files being different.. md5sum comparison verifies this. The interesting thing is.. Here are the file creation time stamps for just the cep2_custom.hak The file I downloaded a year ago Wed 16 Mar 2016 04:26:49 PM CDT
The file I just downloaded from wiki link Fri 18 Mar 2016 02:20:28 PM CDT
I also looked at this file I actually have installed. I must have updated my system at the same time I downloaded everything a year ago.
I have no clue on what file comparison mechanism the ARF uses or even what files its actually even looking for, but I do find this interesting ..
At any rate, I am betting the cep2_custom.hak file, and all relevant HG files, still must replace the files in the ver cep_2.6, or was the cep_2.6 created by the HG devs ...?
If not, then the installation sequence is vital for success, and does ARF even know the difference between HG specific files and generic files of the same name ..?
We really should get some clarity on this and post it to the installation page..
