Los Angeles Unified School District sent kids home two weeks ago - they've been remote learning ever since.
Small businesses are getting crushed. Don't know how many will survive.
Nobody seems to be talking about the homeless. An article mentioned something about isolating them in trailers and cheap motel rooms, but there are nearly 60K in LA county - I just can't see how that would be enough to accommodate them all (or even half).

DC isn't even comparable to LA in so many ways, but one commonality is the strinkingly-large number of homeless people (for which, of course, nothing other than short-term "The Wire"-style election bandaid fixes, is ever done).
As both the epicenter of the pandemic in the region (nation even?) and the seat of the federal government, shit has definitely been kicked into high gear here in a few short days in the DMV zone. The last set of mandates from the DC mayor and the VA&MD governors definitely set a very clear and very sharp tone for their respective administrative machines. Overnight you could see and feel an almost palpable change in the air. Cops are already settling into positions @ chokepoints on the highways and beltways, that quite obviously will be either checkpoints or roadblocks, as circumstances demand. For now they are just watching, but with the dearth of electronic surveillance (quite Orwellian in the DC area, not complaining, just a fact of life), there is absolutely zero question about the faculty and ability of the respective state/city governments and their public safety officers to maintain control. Everyone who laughed at my "china joke" a month ago, and thought our government could never do something like force you to stay in your home while loudspeakers on the streetcorners tell you when you can come out. Yeah, not only *can* they do that here, but if they *had* already done so, thousands of people would still be alive and millions more wouldn't be at risk right now. I don't think anyone wants to make any scary martial law moves until it seems absolutely necessary, but after months of total bullshit (trying to keep this apolitical but facts are facts), suddenly you can tell gears are moving and contingencies that were unboxed and shelved again a month ago are now being looked at with renewed scrutiny and gravitas. The only reason this is concerning to me right now is that in my area (which was the first- and hardest-hit), there are a lot of people who already have been quarantining for weeks before it was cool, because in these cities we had corona and public health concerns over a month ago, unlike cities and states that were still only watching the news about corona in Europe. So now, when a true lockdown is applied, we already have millions of people that have already been restless and stressed and already had lost their jobs and ran out of toilet paper *for a month already now* so while the rest of America is just now catching on, you better believe the cops and national guard here are --not playing games-- and most cops or marines know why law enforcement training includes the part about making sure you understand how easy it is for anarchy to grow out of unrest and making sure you're willing to do your job despite emotional difficulty, to keep order.
But, to go back ontopic, all of that is fine and dandy for regulating "on the grid" citizenry, but there's so. damn. many. people. that don't have the option of self-isolation in their own homes because they don't have one. So having literally tens of thousands of people in a given metro area, that can't properly respond to quarantine directives even if they wanted to, is a big obstacle to "everyone isolate for 14 days and watch the virus die".
All I'm saying is good luck in LA, I guess.

There’s a lot of conversation going on about interstate travel being completely shut down via the national guard out west right now. A lot of I feel is predicated on California and what happens there as it peaks in the next week ish.

Here in Quebec the provincial government has requisitioned a hotel for the homeless and in Ontario they did the same for what we know from the medias, when the temperature is still under 0 celcius or around, i let you imagine what this coudl be for thoses peoples Sure this realy not enough but it,s a start. Also here some hotels are offering to the truckers access to rooms to take shower and have access to facilitys, this is because there are compagnys who dont let them access to the toilets, imagine the truck stops facilitys are close and thoses guys and girls who are on the road for hours when it,s not days have no where for them need, Some companies have no care about thoses drivers, the only thing that matters to them is having their orders

This evening on my Facebook i found a disturbing video about the covid-19 the title in english should be read "Pendemia betrayal of the media" The video main talk is in french language but in it there are many short videos who are in english from England, USA and more then you should be able to have a good idea about what this video mainly say. I have to say it's realy disturbing as they found like in england one woman who confront 2 men who work for the medical and was to evacuate a suppose case of covid-19 this one the exchange between the woman and the 2 mean is highly disturbing ( it's in english and you can see the whole video of the event ) but also there is a short video of CBS news where in a news they show a video who was supposed to be in uSA but they found out the same video who is in real from Italy, also some citizen who after saw on news where they say at x medical place they had line up etc and they gone there and film but no pples was there, like i said this is very disturbing. here the link : www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5kA6iBpYR4&feature=share&fbclid=IwAR3xAVH7H2HhZH3UaB13_nOQ6AqgjQEVGpclIw_MUibaDAuLFpqyxwN98js

Provocative, but uninformative.

I guess they wanted to see where they will eventually be staying?

Actually, the ship is for overflow of ICU cases so hospitals can handle covid patients. The ships aren't equipped to handle virus containment. Funky

Our county is up to 280 confirmed cases. Spoke with a client today who brought a 4 year old to the ER with symptoms. They had no test, and ordered her to quarantine with the kid. She still doesn't know if it's covid.

Ho! Here in Finland we restricted the most populated and southernmost region of our country (~~30% population) and today the restriction lifted. We were doing "much better" on some standards than Sweden who let everything happen what was to happen - we'll see if our infection rate also jumps up now that the restriction has lifted, or not. Hard to gauge, time will tell.
All the countries / regions having such different tactics in dealing with this will be a goldmine for datafarmers and epidemiologists across the globe.
