No, not a typo Scheduling weekend Abyss runs for noobs -- everybody is invited, of course, just be aware that it won't be an experienced party. Since it's for noobs, I want to include the attunement process, an intro/q&a session on the Abyss (builds, mobs, unique drops, aligning with an Abyssal Lord, etc) and maybe a quick walkthrough of Pazunia. Runs will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis - reserve a spot in this thread M-F for the upcoming weekend runs, PM me, or just show up. I'll be online an hour before each run if there are any questions or to check availability. Days: Sat/Sun Times: 9a PST (5p GMT) each day Tentative Sked: 7/18 - Azzagrat7/19 - Shedaklah -- RE-SCHEDULED TO 12N PST POSTPONED TO 7/25 7/25 - Shedaklah 7/26 - Gaping Maw8/1 - Thanatos -- RE-SCHEDULED to 8/2 8/2 - Thanatos

If you need help, I can lend a hand. Can bring anything.
Edit: Although this Saturday I am finishing up my kitchen painting job so 10 am start time is a bit early. And Sundays are my day off. I can help next Saturday though.

Thanks to all who joined this weekend - it was really helpful to me and I think a few other players as well. Azzagrat took about 2.5 hours, which I guess is a little longer than normal, but not too bad.
Running Gaping Maw and Shedaklah for Father's Day weekend. See you all there!

Thanks to some vets, this weekend's runs were a lot smoother - just over 2 hours for GM and just under 2 hours for Shed.
Than and Zion this weekend then a break for the July 4th.
We'll start the cycle again on 7/11
Cya out there!

I'm not sure if you are aware but the last abyssal run in a cycle is usually a prince unless you want to get 5 wands to do the defending pelor run. By the looks of your schedule, there doesn't appear to be a rotation of layers in order to defeat the different princes. Keep in mind that jubilex is a wannabe prince and as such does not grant a vestige.

And you can't get it if you do Shed in between?

There are five abyssal demon lords, of which each carry a fragment of the Wand of Orcus. You go around slaying the demon lords to collect these fragments. You could do Azz, Shed, Than, and Gaping Maw, and then show up to Zio having the other four pieces, since Zio has the fifth. When you do this you can offer the pieces to a Lord, in return he is supposed to give you power (an abyssal vestige). In return for the power the Demon Lord can ascend to become a Prince of Demons having the fully completed wand of Orcus. Instead he betrays you, you have to kill the Demon Lord as a Prince of Demons to claim the power.
Gaping Maw, Zionyn, Thanatos, and Azzagrat all have Demon Lords who are interested in ascending to become a Prince of Demons. Shedaklah, has a Demon Lord who is not interested. The lore behind the fifth fight is that you instead do all five runs, take the Wand Fragments of Orcus to the portal creator in Zerial’s and venture to Pelor. (you start on Elysium map 4, Thalasia, and instead of the usual inhabitants it’s under siege by ALL sorts of Abyss mobs). You venture to a plane where Pelor is attempting to destroy the Wand of Orcus and you have to protect him from various set waves of mobs until it is destroyed.
You have an opportunity to acquire 4 Abyssal Vestiges and one Solar Mote. These make up the five total rewards for the Abyssal runs. In conjunction with each abyssal win players get a -1 layer penalty reduction as a bonus on top of the loot rewards. This is significant as a character with all five abyssal wins plus all three Paragon Environmental Adaptivity feats can have the penalties of a Tia run in Nessus as an example.
You need to set-up your cycles in such a manner that your last run is never Shedaklah, but rotate through the four other layers completing each final one as a Prince of Demons. One of those cycles you’ll complete all 5 runs, and then do a bonus Saving Pelor encounter for the Solar Mote.
It may be beneficial to complete all 5 runs and then either have an extended day where after completing the 5th run you then go do a separate Part 3 run, with the objective to kill a Prince. This is often how players complete the Abyss to ensure that all players participating have an opportunity to get a wand fragment. Players who have killed a given Prince of Demons will not receive a wand fragment when assisting as a helper for those fights.

Thanks, but I think I'm having a "git off mah lawn" moment...
To get a prince win you have to do 4 layers but not Shed. The 4th layer (any layer) is the win?
To get a vestige, you have to do all 5 layers and then fight Pelor...but if you do that you don't get a prince win?

You need to do Shed to get a wand fragment from Jubilex he just does not offer you a prince win option so if you do Shed last there will be no opportunity to get this and you will have to redo one of the other part 3 runs or alternatively do the saving Pelor run.

Shed is needed. Every time. Shed just can’t be your last run otherwise you need to plan on doing Saving Pelor, or an extra P3 to complete the Prince right. As is, with a lot of veterans being in the group week over week that will likely be your reality anyway and it won’t matter what the order is.
