Did a Ssithrak run tonight, a high level wizard and two taggers. Killed everything in all houses and the bridge. Boss dropped remains with master translation rod and blood, but no tags were gained and no portal back spawned, trapping all three characters in the boss room.
Taggers were "Keiwa, Hissatsu Seijuu" (player FrozenFirebird) and "Franky The Ponchik" (character NBW). Happened at UTC 2020-06-18 09:40:04 on server 214. A Caligrosto was present, and I was chucking Destructions with the wizard using Karsus and Meteors mostly, I think. I had used Bestow Curse twice.

If summons can steal kills, why does anyone ever use them? Or why do they exist in the first place, if they don't count as in the party properly? Really awful design if that's the reason this happened... as in, completely incompetent design. So I don't think so.
I know Elanna's tag problems came from her weapon having vampiric regeneration, giving her a temp HP boost. She'd lose the boost at a bad time sometimes, like after being hit with a Heal spell, and her death would be credited to no one. I wonder if this is similar.

Elannas deaths were attributed more to the balors exploding and killing her I thought?

That Summoned Protector in Elanna's room does not explode. As a result of my speedrun testing, Funky was prompted to revisit Elanna, and found the temp HP problem that was preventing tags. Removing the vampiric regeneration fixed it, and I haven't seen any missed Elanna tags ever since.

They don't steal kills, but can in some circumstances block tagging. Has nothing to do with incompetent design, but thanks for that. Funky

So you're just gonna reach into the middle of a conversation, pull out one phrase devoid of context and take insult where a compliment was intended. Cool.
Key words there, Funky, were "kill steal," that's what prep said and what I responded to. Imagine a scenario in which a caligrosto getting a kill meant players not getting any credit for that kill - just the act of the caligrosto getting the final hit. For years, the game acting that way. That would be really, really poorly coded, you'd almost have to put it in that way on purpose. So what I was saying was that I thought something so sloppy was beneath the HG devs, and in confirming it wasn't a kill steal, you confirmed the "completely incompetent" part didn't apply to you, as I expected. Then, in the next breath, you decided to take offense to it anyway.

Ugh... it's been such a rough weekend. So many things just going wrong enough to get under my skin, didn't expect this to bother me as much as it did, but had several other run-ins with people who were determined to start something, and watched a bunch of other people go at each other too. The ssithrak run failing was already a whole wasted evening since we were slogging through with two characters, and my new time zone doesn't give me much time to play HG with people, so I came in here frustrated, made a clinical post about the problem, responded to prep by essentially saying I thought the problem he suggested was beneath the quality of development on HG so it couldn't be the case, then had the lead dev show up and take that vote of confidence completely the wrong way.
Man, I'm tired. Maybe tomorrow will be better.
