Would it mess with the 2nd lich transformation or free passwall? Liches do NOT get free passwall. I have no idea where this myth came from, but it has been debunked. Testing is pretty simple: try to go in any level of Elemental Plane of Earth without ring: it will not let you. You do however get free water breathing and levitation carries over from Genie. Oh maybe just an oddity of the desert then? I don't wear a ring there and i don't die I do need a lev ring for Uro run though, so i'd assumed it was implicit passwall, and not lev. (i'm not a genie yet, i'm just an elf with no sub race, still need a 2nd book) I guess lich just gives implicit 'desert' immunity... odd.

It comes from the fact that my PM (both the Thid and Spelljammer versions) does NOT need a levitation item to traverse the desert areas but falls on its backside when it gets to Uro area 2 so it definitely doesn't have levitation from anything, I'm open to suggestions as to why this is the case. Just realised my comment is exactly the same as the one from starcore but I suspect you used Genie and this would not have been apparent to you. starcore Just do what you want with the build as I think you've probably realised there are lots of different ways to 'ice the cake' depending on what you have available and what you want it to be able to do.

My Negatai PM never wore levitation or passwall in the desert. He definitely needed levitation in other areas. Never went to elemental plane of earth.

starcore Just do what you want with the build as I think you've probably realised there are lots of different ways to 'ice the cake' depending on what you have available and what you want it to be able to do. Will do! I think i'm finally at the point now where my idea for the build is at least fundamentally solid, and am now just playing around with the 'icing' as you put it. Thank you very much for all your suggestions, that has no doubt prevented me from making many obviously flawed & incorrect choices, that I would have likely regretted later. Apologies if i have come off as argumentative, or been too pestering at any point, i do truly appreciate you all putting up with me and steering me in the correct direction!

Looks like Lich transformation gives you some sort of ungodly halfway house between the Passwall and Levitation survival abilities

Desert can be visited with either levitation or passwall. The first let´s you levitate aboth the sand, preventing to get sucked down by the quick sand. The passwall simply let´s you breath earth/dirt, allowing you to survive there as well. As a tip: the passwall protects you also against the instant kill effect from the living sands, filling your lungs with sand. As PMA you don`t need to breath/have no functioning lungs. That´s why you are allowed to travers into the desert or underwater areas without having any effect on you. It´s designed that way specifically by the devs.

So it is Water Breathing but is not Passwall and does give the Passwall protection from Living Sands (and the ability to survive in the desert (as per Passwall/Levitation)) but not the ability to traverse Passwall/Levitation required areas (apart from the afore mentioned desert)...................not confusing at all! I'm not entirely sure how to describe that in the wiki

Quick question for the above build:
How are you taking Heavy Armor at level 18?

Listen is a PM skill you can max it anytime.

Ah nice, thanks for the pickup! Will correct that.
Its pretty funny though, as a negati, its probably quicker to list the skills you don't max.... its silly how many skill points you have
