So been trying to setup for two accounts on computer and followed wiki and another threads advice.
However when I try to run """
@echo off setlocal
::copy our files to the nwnplayer files copy "c:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\xakila1.ini" "c:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\nwnplayer.ini" copy "c:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\xakila1.cdkey" "c:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\nwncdkey.ini"
start c:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\nwmain-169-hg.exe
"""
I get double error in the cmd.exe box saying The system cannot find the file specified. Shows up twice. Then proceeds to open nwn as intended.
All of the files are indeed in that directory, so anyone know what could be causing error in windows 7?
Thanks

I've found NWN is sensitive to the location of the shell that it is being launched from.
Try adding to your batch file (the line before before "start c:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\nwmain-169-hg.exe"):
c: cd c:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\
Also, I've found there are sometimes issues if your executable is not nwmain.exe (you might need to rename it)

Oh Also, you might need to add /Y to your copy flags, so it overwites the original file (This is probably the solution to the issue you are describing, but my first post solved some issues for me too, so never a bad idea)
copy /Y "c:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\xakila1.ini" "c:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\nwnplayer.ini" copy /Y "c:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\xakila1.cdkey" "c:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\nwncdkey.ini"

My first guess(because of the file not found error) is that you used notepad or wordpad to write the batch file, and the default is to name all files with a .txt extension.
If this is the problem you probably won't be able to tell, as Win7 hides file extensions by default too. If your nwmain.exe file shows as just nwmain you'll know this is possibly your problem.
Go to your folder options, on the "View" tab, and uncheck "hide file extensions" then click "OK".
Then you'll be able to see if your xakila1.ini and xakila1.cdkey are really xakila1.ini.txt and xakila1.cdkey.txt and if they are, simply rename them, deleting the .txt extension on both files so they match what's in the batch file.
ps- yes, Windows is sensitive to the location of the shell, which is why I include the full path in the batch file. This keeps it from becoming an issue. I've never needed the copy -Y flag, but you have a point that it may be a problem... I just haven't had that problem personally, nor has anyone I've talked to about it. Still, it was good thinking on your part in both cases. Troubleshooting without being able to see their screen is like playing whackamole blindfolded sometimes...lol.

You might also have permission issues although in C:/NeverwinterNights... that shouldn't be an issue. You can skip the parenthesis as your adress doesn't have any space in it. Honestly it's way easier to just copy your whole game into a different folder, having NWN1 and NWN2, edit files in both folders and run it like that. Becomes much easier to manage it, you can set different various settings to each client without them getting overwritten etc.

I personally just run 13 separate installations for that exact reason. I have different things modified on different clients and like the fact it’s a constant.

Thanks for all of the advice just need to find my second key again. Will try a second installation as it seems the most effective and less hassle.
