I'd rather edit HGX to show the insta vulnerabilities. Like putting them in the "Mage" tab.

Interestingly enough, increasing the model sise didn't seem? to actually increase the clickable area. It was still just the small area around the blue cloud. This is probably solvable, but if ya'll think its going too far then I wont bother investigating any further. That said, I have had my intention to look at this posted on the first page of this forum thread for >6 months.... The other thing I was thinking about would be updating some of the models to have their insta kill spell floating above their heads... like a little PWK icon floating above the adaru... That functionality doesn't seem to be too much a stretch on the info HGX is already providing... Oh and for transparency's sake... I'm not actually using any modified effects without first posting them in the forum. Stuff like that - if it were to make learning or easing access to areas that have tons of information to digest, I find to be completely a-OK. floating icon above monster seems like it would be a bonafide improvement for those who like it, much like WoW Addons - they just make the game better. The question arises whether that would point people towards pigeonholed approach to monsters "has pwk icon above it, won't try to find other solutions" and such as a downside. It would be interesting to have "insta-mod" and "dmg-mod" with icons floating above certain key monsters to mimic what HGX already provides as you said but for specific approaches depending on your mood and party. If it enhances or skips gameplay stuff - like in case of Adaru size - (pull packs apart, deal with adaru BEFORE they hide in the butt of an Anzu) I'd proceed with caution, am honestly glad it would require more work to make it work. I would consider adaru's small size and healing properties part of the design and challenge of the run; "fragile supportive monster hides under sturdier monsters" is a nice archetype for a monster. (Edit: that requires gameplay solutions, not tweaking the game/gfx/models).

(violation of the "if you don't have anything nice to say" principle inbound) It seems that killing adarus with PWK *IS* the exotic and outlandish thing to do, as of late. The default modus operandi is to poke everything with pointy sticks until it stops moving, even in abyss (including adaru, jovoc, dybbuk, manitou, scream, sunbeam etc.) So much for pigeonholing and finding other / creative solutions

Another quick update... - Reduced the particle count on the fonts... it makes them a little harder to see, but helps a little bit with performance/crashing.
- fixed the color of the huge (dracotur) aura, so its now orange like the smaller version instead of yellow
- replaced the other huge cacophony type auras with a simple circle like the dragonfear one. (Natures balance for stormlord is the notable one)

Just want to say thanks again Starcore for making and sharing these visual haks, they are extremely helpful and I genuinely could not do without them now.

Higher particle counts in general cause more client lag... Probably just due to more stuff to render... when I was initially making the effects it was extremely noticeable when I was testing with much higher values. The higher the particle count the worse the lag. (Its why snow maps seem to be a problem sometimes too)

Cheers for the information, you would think game first released in 2002 with recommended system requirements of "Processor: Intel Pentium III / AMD Athlon MP, Graphics: AMD Radeon 7000 64mb or NVIDIA GeForce 6100, System Memory: 256 MB RAM, Storage: 2 GB Hard drive space, DirectX 8 Compatible Graphics Card" would run at about 1000fps on current systems but I suspect the issues are to do with it not even expecting to see the extra stuff that's present now so it can't take advantage of it.

The FPS drop is more noticable with more clients, one is usually without issues. Having 8 fully buffed Slingers made my GPU spin like crazy with only 40 FPS.

I recently tried this hak, one issue I am having is the Ice Storm spell no longer has a visual effect. Is the spell change accidental or intentional?
I do like the rain removal, any chance you know how to remove lightning flash as well, or change the colour of the flash from white to some other?

Interesting... ice storm visual effect removal was unintentional... probably a casualty of me trying to remove weather effects... I'll put it back... Ice storm fixed here: drive.google.com/file/d/11b5W7ctIbZ3yL2ki0gf_VsL2X11lCcAF/view?usp=sharingI'll also have a look into the lightning thing... it should be possible to remove if I can find the effect... Could be tricky to test..... anyone know of any of any low level areas where it's always raining?

Have you ever considered a change that would get rid of the water in Min? (So that you can actually see where the darn tears are and whether mobs are cursed?) :-)
