Background: So I really enjoy playing the Wizard class due to the versatility you gain and the additional challenge of not using my Sorcerer. I broke my original Wizard by specializing (to take advantage of an exploit...you play with fire...), so I needed to reincarnate and start over. Mostly I use my Wizard for running Desert/DB/Thids and artifact farming. I thought I would change things up a bit from my original build(Elf-Illithid Wiz39/Rog1, picked maybe 3 chests in its entire career) and upgrade to a BUR race as I had two Negatai books that I recently acquired. I love all the skills you gain with Rogue, but going with the rogue splash is not the greatest option due to the Negatai Human requirement. I originally planned to splash PM to try and get some free goodies. The plan didn't work, so now I am going to go pure, which also doesn't offer me much, but frees up my dabbler boots for Tia boots.
Goals: So, there are a few things I am trying to get out of this build. As many Epics and Paragons I can fit as possible, as I really enjoy that style of play. Good defenses, because I get careless and aggressive. Good offense, because that speeds up all the runs. Be a solid solo LL run farmer with the ability to contribute on Hells/Aboleths/Abyss as a secondary arcane. I am also going to use Wizard Specialization, because I am stubborn and will not let this class feature intimidate me into not using it.
Pros:
- 4 paragon Epics(Evo, Necro, Abj, PoP)
- 14 Epic spells(4x Evo, 2x Necro, 2x Abj, 1x Ill, 1x Trans, 1x Conj, 2x Greater Ruin, 1x Epic Mage Armor)
- Great Necro DC
- Great Defences(130+ AC, 80%+ Conceal, Epic Dodge)
- Great Damage(Paragon Evo, Epic Conj)
- Minimum ESF in every school that is not barred
- 3 PSF Schools
- 2 Metamagic feats to help with spell book flexibility
Cons:
- Missing paragon spell penetration. I never had this feat on my old toon, and I never really felt lacking. SP Ego and Arti may be the way to go if it becomes an issue.
- Missing Great Int 9 and 10, so 1 DC off max. Same as before though, did not have have max DC with my Illithid and never felt lacking.
- 2 Barred schools (Enchant and Divination) I never had Divination up to LSF, so lacking +16 soak was never an issue. Missing PWK hurts though. Not sure if I ever casted a spell from the Enchantment school, so likely won't even notice it missing.
