I received this message after one of my auctions ended just now. (I am the seller) The item appears to no longer be in the auction chest for me to retrieve as the message would suggest. Attachments:

neverminded, it was in there... I was just blind...
Not sure why the auction would default though...

Lack of bids would be my guess.

I know I bid on it, so that theory is out the window.

Also the message for no bids on an auction is different...
the one I screenshotted, telling me to post in the forums or contact a DM is a bit unusual.

Sorry, I viewed it on my computer this time. If memory serves, that message means that the top bidder didn't have enough in his account to cover the bid.

I thought bids were normally paid into escrow? Meaning a default would be impossible...
There's no issue here for me, I was able to retrieve the item, just thought it might be worth investigating, as there have been grumblings of strange auction behavior...

They are paid into escrow, but if the bidder has multiple escrow items there are situations when they can't cover. I coded it so long ago I can't remember precisely why escrow doesn't always cover, but I will probably have a look at the system after Mechanus.
As for strange auction behavior, one of the edits Werehound made a long while back prevented it from working with augmentors. Again, I'll be looking at that. The only other issue I'm aware of is when the auctioneer doesn't properly set the number of days, which causes the item to not be entered in the system and lost on server reset.
