It's with great sadness that I notify those of you who were friends and or gamed with, "(KnightErrant) real life name: Brad Miester " that he passed away this morning ending his battle with cancer. He was a dear friend and consummate gamer. " He will be greatly missed. If anyone would like to share any feelings or interactions with or about "KE," please feel free to post them here, this would be great. I know that he loved playing on HG, and he enjoyed the people and the friendships that he made here.
May the sun always shine on you and a smile always cover your face on your future adventures, Brad.
Your friend,
Amicus

Sad news, I wasn't expecting this news, I didn't even know he was fighting cancer,
he was very often online and always answered when we contacted him as a DM for help, or to give informations players need.
I'm sure he will be missed by the vast majority of players on HG.
With him also gone, it's starting to be a lot of stones in the graveyard in memory of the players who have passed away, of course this is for the players who we know have passed away.
Please extend my sympathies to his family and friends.
RIP Brad

This is devastating. I have many stories, as I'm sure most do: he was about as close to omnipresent as it gets, so doubtless our memories could fill volumes. Likewise, I know most of us here played with him for what seems to be countless hours across many runs, and I know we all have just as many stories of him purely as a player and partymate, even aside from his DM duties. Always ready to help, it often seemed as if Brad would stay online afk just in case he was needed (and he often was, whether it was to spawn a key, un-stick a toon, or replace a lost item). The number of ways in which he managed to fix a broken run for me is too large to remember in detail, but I can think of several occasions in which something truly bizarre and one-of-a-kind happened that he was able to service (often because he was the only DM around--a matter of great appreciation in and of itself). He didn't always know offhand or have committed to memory the exact steps or command/variables for the issue at hand, but considering that he surely logged many thousands of such tasks over the years, the amount of "fixing" knowledge that he did have at the ready, and his readiness to deploy it, was truly above and beyond. He would always respond (eventually hey, give the guy a break, he was logged in at work usually!), and always took the time to poke others for an answer to resolve a problem. I could always rely on him getting back to me hours later after he checked in from being afk or after his run ended and he would follow up to see if there was anything he could do. He cared a lot about this game and its players, and he did his best to always put the health of the server and the respect of the people invested here as the first priority. He was kind, trustworthy, genuine, and humble. He will truly be missed and the lack of his presence is something that can never be replaced. Thank you for sharing and my condolences to all.
