In the original NWN two handed wpn damage was 1 1/2 time the normal strength bonus. Is there any way to reactivate this script? It would be interesting to get a benefit from using a medium wpn like a katana as a two handed wpn, i.e. without a shield equipped.
I really don't know if this would be a probem as maybe in the same scripting there was one that off hand wpn damage recieves one half your normal str bonus for an attack, which if the two are tied might really piss off those that use dual wpns.

It's already like that. The only reason it isnt that noticable on HG is because most of the time the weapon damages overshadow the str damage. I actually made a 2 handed str tank a while back, and her base damage with a scythe is 2-8 + 53 with improved power attack and 60 str.

I think he wanted to know if it was possible to add damge when using a medium weapon (for that case the katana) without a shield. In PnP you can chose if you want to wield a weapon in one hand (with shield) and only add the normal strenght bonus to damage or to wield a weapon in two hands (even if it's medium) and get 1.5 X the strength bonus to damage. I know that there was a discussion on the PRC website about this, I didn't read the thread at its full length, but here you go: forums.netgamers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=5618&highlight=weaponmal

Like Yue said, it's already that way. From the NWN manual, page 151: "Off-hand Weapon Damage: Any weapon used in the off-handonly receives one half your normal Strength bonus for an attack.
Two-Handed Weapon Damage: Any weapon being used in two hands delivers one and a half times your normal Strength bonus."
It's pretty clear from their use of 'any weapon' that they are not just referring to two-handed-type weapons. Never tested it because, frankly, in HG, it's just not a good idea. Funky

Funky So greatsword builds on a medium-sized character are bad, then? Say it ain't so. Also, I'm pretty much certain that you never get two-handed bonus with a weapon that is the same size as your character (short swords on halflings, longswords on humans, greatswords on trolls). The NWN manual is wrong about a lot of things in my experience.

(short swords on halflings, longswords on humans, greatswords on trolls) All of these are examples of 1handed, for the 2handed bonus you need to use a medium weapon for a small stature char or a large weapon for a medium stature. Just because you don't have a shield equipped doesn't mean your using a weapon 2 handed. The problem with using 2handed weapons is the drop in ac(up-to 19 ac iirc for str builds), this is more apparent in the LLs where the mobs tend to have high ab. Holla.

The NWN manual is wrong about a lot of things in my experience. That goes without saying. That's why I added the caveat that I had never bothered to test it. Funky

For the record, using a 2 handed weapon in LL areas isn't impossible, just difficult. If you do use one, its a must that you have a backup weapon and shield hotkeyed so you can switch if you start getting pounded on by multiple hostiles. In my case I took a 2nd weapon of choice and weapon focuses in scimitars as well as scythes.

Just a quick question about having 2 weapons of choice, do you also get the increased crit range and multiplier (on 2nd weapon) when you select a second weapon of choice?

Yes, you get the same bonuses on both. Be sure to take Imp Critical and EWF on both, of course.
