Ok, I know Archmage will nuke me for this sometime soon, but I really have to say that the Epic Dragon summon still really just sucks.
I'm really very happy that its upgraded for level 50, so that it has a chance in hell of being even remotely useful.
The thing that I really really urge you to change about that dragon, though, is the spells it casts.
I know its supposed to me a meat shield, and not something capable of soloing the desert on its own, or taking down the illithids, or tanking Dachy. Its not supposed to replace fighters. I'm ok with that.
But it should actually live long enough to swing its claws once. I mean, whats the point of a better AB if it never uses it? Or breath weapons?
Last night I set it up against Nerine's Balor in a one-on-one pitfight. Now, the Balor is a real monster from a real area thats intended to be 40-45ish...so a level 50 dragon should at least have a decent contest one on one (which never happens vs monsters, but thats ok too).
The dragon got utterly ruined. I don't think it did a single point of damage to the balor. ALL IT DID...was cast a few thunderstrikes, a couple chain lightnings, a couple hammers of the gods - and by that time, the balor had beat it down using only its sword. No death by kickback, no pound-athon between melee titans...the dragon stood still casting useless spells until it was cut down.
Thats it.
I've got to say I'm unimpressed. I mean, what good is a level 50 dragon that casts a couple of spells that I ALREADY HAVE, at lower spell pen and lower damage. And beyond that, its got a hellball that it never uses. Heck, I have hellball and I never use it anymore.
Please please please just take off the spells. Make the dragon actually FIGHT and breath, instead of stand there being ineffective while it gets cut down. It can't even keep monster attention while casting that junk, which is kinda what the point of a meatshield is.
I'm begging you. As it is now, its really cool looking on paper and in the module description, you won't see anyone actually using it, and because of that only a new to the mod person would even take the feat. And I don't think you guys put time into the summons just to have the feats never taken.
