Just got my 1st sub-race last night and it's super slow.
Not just slow, but super slow, even when hasted he is slower than my paladin non-hasted.
Any chance this subrace can be brought up in speed a few hairs?

Did this paladin happen to have cast freedom of movement on himself? (freedom = movement speed increase)

No, it's just the slowness of the half-ogre itself. It's the same as Treant: Slow Speed: walk 1.25m/s, run 2.5 m/s (Half-Ogre, Treant) PC Speed (standard): walk 2m/s, run 4m/s
Barbarian Speed gives +10%, so +.25 running = 2.75 running, still nowhere near the 4m/s of a normal toon. I'm guessing it's Funky's way of balancing those two subby's.

I would imagine slow, and slow far I've learned to live with it Balance you say good friend? Check "Minotaur" (secret subrace) - requires Human (changes Appearance) STR +4, DEX -2, WIS +2, CHA -4, free feat: Power Attack, increases character size to large BASE +2 STR, -2 INT, -2WIS, FC: Barbarian, Darkvision "Half-Ogre" (secret subrace) - requires Half-Orc (changes Appearance) STR +3, CON +2, DEX -2, Int -2, Cha -2, increases character size to large, reduced base movement rate - slow Summary: +6 -6 (0) +free feat: power attack, +human free feat vs. +7 -10 (-3) +slow +darkvision +fc:barbarian The idea of a lumbering hulk gets to me as fun and amusing and I am learning to love the slow.

I agree that mino is superior, but I'm thinking this is by design. You have to take into account what it takes to get each subrace, though I'll avoid specific examples due to forum no-spoiler policy. However---arguably, mino is tougher to obtain than half-ogre. However, I think the half-ogre concept is cool, and once in awhile I've seen half-ogre's in action--they are plodding engines of pain

I hope to make mine the same. I will have to redo the base for Oggg Smash since I've been playing around with the CBC and am starting to see some interesting things.
Unfortunately the only viable class for Half-Ogre is a fighter type: Barbarian/Fighter/CoT
Someone had suggested possibly attempting an RDD build with him... lol

I think another possibility is simply that the new appearance moves at a certain speed and you can't have a guy whose legs are moving slowly while he physically is moving fast over the ground. (you can, but it looks silly)
It's just that somehow I can't see speed as being a balance issue. ("we'll give him +2 STR but make him real slow!")

Does the same hold true for the Mino and the Dragon form then?
The slow movement speed isn't an issue anymore. I've come to accept it and enjoy it. Sure beats rubber banding across a map with my monk.

I'm sure it was a very powerful subrace back when it was added. Makes sense that it was added to the subrace at the time, might be due for an upgrade though.
