I have done several beholder runs...., my rogue has gotten good enough that he can recover the traps... They are DC 140 or so and do over 300 damage a hit, assuming no improved evasion, resistance, and a failed save. (To players) And, when I recover them, they are *minor* electric traps. In a moment of somewhat self denial, I decide to place some in the devariel eyrie. Sure enough, they go off, and after battle, I check the combat log.... Damage resistance 27, it did.... 27 damage.... ummmmm, just asking, maybe I could get a little better of a reward for recovering them. Moslty they just clog inventory and I prefer the 2.5k something XP for disarming them as opposed to the grand 0 of a succesful recovery attempt.... Just asking ^.^

I agree. The trap recovered should at least be CLOSE to the original trap, but I can see why the DMs wouldn't want a player with 10 traps capable of doing ~300 dmg a hit. The idea of someone sticking a few of them at the starting point of the farm sends shivers down my spine... actually I take that back, it would be kinda funny
